Well, I've finally gave in and watched the Showa Gamera DVDs released by Alpha Video (Gamera (1965), Gamera vs. Barugon, Gamera vs. Viras, and Gamera vs. Giron). I saw Gamera vs. Giron today, and I noticed that the scene where Giron hacks the space gyaos to pieces wasn't included (I never saw the original, only pictures). I'm certain there's a scene where there's Space Gyaos lying on the ground and Giron cut off it's wing and I think head. Anyway, does anyone know what other things were cut from the Showa Gamera DVD releases by Alpha Video? Does anyone ever think we'll get decent releases of the Showa Gamera films (Like how ADV films released the Heisei Gamera trilogy)? I really wish these films were in widescreen.... oh well, the Showa Gamera films are really enjoyable! The battles are really bloody and enjoyable. :Big-th-up:

And they are releasing them the same way many of us older fans saw them growing up. I really like seeing them that way again. Would I prefer widescreen editions? Sure, but these are fun too. Besides, WAR OF THE MONSTERS is actually improved with a shorter running time.

I don't think you have to be spoiled to see how god-awful the Alpha releases are. Well, actually, I guess you would, because otherwise you wouldn't see the R2's to compare... but of course YOU don't because I'm going to show you now anyway....

I don't know why, but that scene is so messed up...maybe it's the fact the limbs literally fly up and away, or the bright purple blood, or the fact Guiron is laughing...but that has to be the most deliciously ****ed-up kaiju scene I've ever watched.

Thanks James. Thats the 1st time I had seen that cut. I think that it was overdone with the choping up the body scene. :o
