The Board is Down with no repair ETR. My apologies but we don't have the money or resources to repair the issue. It is broken on the back-end and is only here to view as an archive. Thank you for your years of patronage.
Spinning flame-jetted turtles, space birds being chopped up like bologna, kids in shorts screaming for help...the original Gamera series was a strange mix of wacky fun!! The 90's Gamera films set a standard that other kaiju films are measured against! Discuss Gamera films here!!
Thought there'd be a little more discussion on this subject, which makes me kind of sadder. Hongo was a real treat to watch in all of the Gamera/Daimajin films he was in. Acting wise, this guy is as close to the Gamera series as you get. The Daei version of Kenji Sahara more or less.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.
I'm gonna watch Gamera vs. Gyaos...or maybe Barugon...very soon in this man's honor. I really hoped J.D would have gotten him for a G-Fest visit before this happened
Man, this is a huge loss. When one thinks of a leading man in a Godzilla film, you have Akira Takarada or Akira Kubo. But when I think of a leading man in a Gamera film, it will always be Mr. Hongo, and no other.
