Random Thoughts
Just a couple of random observations (and a question) I had about the Gamera series overall that I thought might spark some discussion...
1) There's still some untapped potential in the series, fight-wise. Gamera has yet to face two or more monsters at once (or at least two different monsters, if you include the '95-'06 Gyaos as "multiple monsters"), have an ally, or fight a robot monster of some kind (Mechagamera?). Of course, there's always "bring back a Showa monster that isn't Gyaos."
2) Whenever there's a third monster in a movie, aside from Gamera and the titular opponent, it's always Gyaos. Gamera vs. Guiron, Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris and Gamera the Brave... It's weird that Gyaos has become Gamera's equivalent of Ghidorah or Mechagodzilla while Barugon, Gamera's original foe, is fading into obscurity.
3) Obviously, one has never been made, but has a Gamera vs. Daimajin movie ever been planned at any point? Even a Godzilla vs. Frankenstein level of "planned?" It seems like a no-brainer to team up Daiei's two biggest kaiju stars.
