Fantastic news. I'm glad someone came to the conclusion that this was a good idea despite the market being inundated with crappy P&S releases of these films. Gives me hope for a good Godzilla vs. Megalon release.

Thanks everyone for the extra info. Neptune's GIANT MONSTER GAMERA is, I think, one of 9 or 10 movies I still have on VHS (and my VCR croaked the other day; my last VCR!). I'll be thrilled to finally have a great copy on DVD, and to ditch these Alpha's which are almost unwatchable on a large television.

Oh awesome! with the mention of the HD transfers, I sure hope this means they're looking to put these on bluray! I've been oogling the japanese bluray releases along with Toho's, but the lack of subtitles has kept me from buying anything except the original Godzilla. But this would be great!

I wonder what the chances of them being able to make a deal to get the HD transfers of the Daimajin movies for release over here would be.... That would just be icing on the cake!

I'll bet Carl Craig won't mind participating in extras for Gamera Vs. Viras! His live commentary on the film at AFFE 2002 was just as entertaining as the movie itself.

Yeah...the HD transfers are a good point...does that mean Blu Ray?

This is GREAT news, and long overdue!

I would have never thought Shout Factory to be the company to pick up the rights to these, and I know they'll do a fantastic job.

And, hopefully, it'll increase the chance of getting some of the Gamera episodes of MST3k released on a future set.
