I'm not much of a fan of Yuasa's films either. I do like Gamera vs. Gyaos a lot, but the others are all either too boring or too childish (or both) for my tastes. I don't mind movies being aimed at kids, because if I can still be entertained by them then it doesn't matter what the target demographic is. But with the exception of the aforementioned title, none of Yuasa's flicks did it for me. I wouldn't even call them well done by kids movie standards.
I respect the guy for trying with what he had and for clearly having a passion for what he did, I just don't care for most of his movies.
