Gamera vs. Monster X coupled with Gappa? That´s odd, why don´t they couple it with their other Gamera acquisitions - Return of the Giant Monsters or War of the Monsters? Still I don´t mind too much, I don´t have Gappa on DVD - although I don´t think that much of it anyway.

YIKES!

Well, being stuck on this lump of rock I never saw the American releases of the Gamera flicks, not that it ever really bothered me.

I had some spare cash a while back, and decided to pick up some of these R1 releases, purely out of interest. I was thrown back by the crappiness. While the R2 releases are slightly more expensive, they are original language and subtitled, and the prints are just oozing with quality.

Same scene, from Gamera vs. Viras...

Besides that, Region 2 is just prefect for us Brits :D

wow! i may end up getting the R2 dvds someday. i knew the alpha prints were from 16mm sources, so i didn't expect much in terms of quality (kind of looks like something you'd see on late at night on some independent TV station). but, i didn't expect them to be this different!! lol

The covers look sweet, however, I wish the company would aleast try to get descent, if not, excellent prints of the films. To bad there might be some chance people will start saying to me ''shut up!!!!11 be thANkful they;ve been released foR thE firSt time!!!1 it's get's an A-!11'' (Note: Not refering to anyone here).
