Do you know when this "Silver Queen" card was originally released? From what I found (googling) it looks like it first came out with the Stronghold set, released in February 1998.

According to special features on the Gamera 3 DVD, shooting began in June 1998. Seems pretty incredibly unlikely for the Iris design to be based on something that wasn't even available until 4 months before shooting started. That doesn't seem like enough time for Higuchi (SFX) and Kaneko (Director) to agree on the final design and for the suit to be constructed.

Shogakukan's Gamera 3 Deluxe Treasure Edition has some early design sketches of Iris, many of which don't look anything like the Sliver Queen.

I think any visual similarities are purely coincidental. They're not all that similar anyway. I'd say Sliver Queen has about as many similarities to Legion or even Gigan as to Iris.

I haven't heard anything about Irys being based on a Magic character :? - I'm sure Kaneko would have said so in the million interviews he's done since the film
