Shindo is easily the best character in this film. Hence why he stayed in some small way in my version of GvsKG in the fix the heisei series thread.
The Dorats are....well..weird. I never really get WHY they're in the film. I guess for the same appeal Pokemon and other cutesy creatures have in Japan? Really Ghidorah could have appeared with or without them. How did the futurians know they'd become a monster? I mean, they all fused together. What if it'd just been a big body with more feet instead of heads. Or the three heads fused into one that was where its tail was?
The one part of the film that REALLY works for me is Godzilla's origin. I just like seeing it happen. I like knowing just what he was before he became the King of the Monsters. It's just a shame that we have a horrible time travel plot in order to get to it. Yeah, the time travel works. Sort of...but I think the logic of the time travel is more an accident than part of the intent.
I don't get Shindo..or anyone honestly. This notion of Godzilla being more aggressive or "evil" or whatever after being resurrected is silly. It's not like he was being helpful the last few times he came to visit. King Ghidorah is a cool enough design...but he's really not all that well executed. His heads bob a little, and the aerial battle is terrible. There's no soul to this Ghidorah. Even Showa Ghidorah seemed far more alive and he was almost always being controlled by aliens.
Overall, it can be fun when I'm in the right mood for it, but it's really a bottom of the barrel G-film.Statistics: Posted by MekaGojira3k — Thu Jul 05, 2012 9:43 am
