A SCIFI JAPAN EXCLUSIVE
Feast your eyes on the ultimate yakiniku movie! An unprecedented first “eat-ertainment” film!
Shochiku has provided information and large, high-res photos from FOOD LUCK (フード・ラック！食運, Fūdo Rakku! Shokuun). The movie is the directorial debut of Jimon Terakado from the comedy trio Dachou Club. Terakado is well known as a top TV celebrity foodie, with a particular love for beef, who has experience eating cuisine throughout Japan. With not only an eye for the food, but respect for the masters who make it, FOOD LUCK depicts both the love between mother and son and the comedy of life through yakiniku (grilled meat) and delicious food.
EXILE NAOTO from the pop group EXILE and actress Tao Tsuchiya (ULTRAMAN ZERO: THE REVENGE OF BELIAL, RUROUNI KENSHIN series, WAITING FOR SPRING) co-star together for the first time. FOOD LUCK is scheduled for a theatrical release in Japan on November 20.
“Negishi-en” was a small yakiniku restaurant run single-handedly by Yasue Sato (Ryo). The restaurant was beloved to many, in particular Yasue’s son, Yoshito. However, false claims by a food critic caused it to suddenly lose customers, and Yasue decided to close the restaurant.
18 years later, Yoshito (EXILE NAOTO) has left home and works as a freelance writer with little success. One day, his editor Shizuka Takenaka (Tao Tsuchiya) assigns Yoshito to create a new food guide website that only covers “the real thing.”And the fateful first topic is: yakiniku?! Despite accepting the job, Yoshito struggles with it, and then he receives word that his now-estranged mother has collapsed.
Unable to bring himself to visit Yasue in the hospital, Yoshito visits well-known restaurants for his work, and encounters the nostalgic flavors of Negishi-en, coming to understand his mother through the enjoyment of food and the people she connected with. Through this, he begins to change inside…
Guided by his “food luck,” what miracle will Yoshito create in the end?
