Arrow Video US and MVD Entertainment are offering SciFi Japan readers a chance to win the new Blu-ray of Koji Shima’s WARNING FROM SPACE (宇宙人東京に現わる, Uchūjin Tokyo ni Arawaru, 1956), the first Japanese science fiction film to be made in color. The movie features eye-popping special effects from the same team at Daiei Studios that would bring Gamera to life a decade later.
As Japan is rocked by mysterious sightings of UFOs over Tokyo and large one-eyed aliens attempting contact, scientists collaborate to investigate the unexpected rise in extraterrestrial activity. Unbeknownst to them, one of the aliens has already assumed human form and is about to deliver a very important message… that could be humanity’s last hope for survival.
The WARNING FROM SPACE Blu-ray will be released October 13 by Arrow Video US. The movies feature a High Definition (1080p) presentation with the original Japanese version with optional English subtitles. Extras include a new commentary by Stuart Galbraith IV, author of Monsters Are Attacking Tokyo!, trailers, image galleries, a reversible sleeve featuring newly-commissioned artwork by Matt Griffin, and the first-ever HD transfer of the American release version of the film with a newly restored English dub track. This first pressing also comes with an illustrated collector’s booklet featuring an essay on artist Taro Okamoto by Japanese art historian Nick West, and an essay on the production of the American edit of the film by David Cairns The suggested retail price is $39.95.
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES and INFORMATION
A. There are four (4) prizes, each consisting of one (1) WARNING FROM SPACE Blu-ray.
B. The prizes will be shipped to the contest winners so entrants must include a valid mailing address. This contest is only open to participants in the United States and Canada.
C. In the event that a winner chooses not to (or cannot) accept a prize, he or she forfeits all claim to that prize.
D. One entry per person. Prizes are non-transferable. No substitution of prizes allowed.
Duration of contests:
A. The “WARNING FROM SPACE Blu-ray” contest runs from October 4 until 11:59pm on October 21, 2020.
How to enter:
A. Submit your name, email address, and mailing address for the random drawing.
B. Be sure to write “WARNING FROM SPACE Blu-ray” in the subject header of your email entry. SciFi Japan often runs multiple contests at the same time, so any entries without “WARNING FROM SPACE Blu-ray” in the subject header will be discarded.
Determination of winners:
A. Only contestants who have submitted the requested information will be entered in the final drawing. The first four randomly drawn eligible entries will be judged the winners for this contest.
B. SciFi Japan is not responsible for typographical, electronic or other errors in Internet operation affecting the offering, outcome, administration of the contest or the announcement of prizes. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
C. The decision of Arrow Video US and SciFi Japan is final. Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the SciFi Japan judges, which are final and binding in all respects.
D. Following the drawing, winners will be notified via email.
