New Automated Godzilla Bank Coming November 3rd
Source: SHINE Co., Ltd.
Celebrate Godzilla’s 61st birthday with the new Godzilla Bank with motion, light-up and sound features. Godzilla is the first licensed character chosen for the collectible Itazura Bank (Mischief Bank) line manufactured by SHINE Co. SHINE chose to make a Godzilla piggy bank based on the character’s popularity both inside and outside of Japan. The monster has renewed visibility due to the box office success of the 2014 American GODZILLA film, news that Toho will release a new Japanese Godzilla movie in 2016, and the development of a sequel of the American film for 2018.
The Godzilla bank has a sea diorama design. When a coin is placed in the round wave atop the bank, Godzilla rises with an angry glow and pulls the coin inside with his left claw. The action is accompanied by Godzilla’s famous roar and echoing footsteps, followed by the famous theme song (recorded from the master audio). There are 8 different randomly selected audio patterns.
The Godzilla Bank features the monster’s likeness as seen in Toho’s Heisei Series films of the 1990s. The bank and packaging are adorned with new illustrations by Shinji Nishikawa, monster designer and storyboard artist for the Heisei Godzilla movies.
The Godzilla Bank is intended for fans and collectors age 6 and older. Two AA batteries are required to power the gimmicks and LED light.
