MUSHISHI is based on the manga that inspired Revelation Films` current hit anime series of the same name. The manga, created by Yuki Urushibara and serialized in Kodansha`s Afternoon magazine from 1999-2008, has sold over 3 million copies. In 2006, it was nominated for the Kodansha Manga Award. My selections in the titles I bought were driven primarily by the art, though I did have a special fondness for Spider-Man. Thanks to a tip from a friend, I discovered a back issue of a Japanese comic book called Shonen Jump which featured a manga version of Spider-Man with art by Ryoichi Ikegami. This phone book-sized comic broke my manga virginity, and though I could not read a word of Japanese, I was hooked. Sure, I had seen a few sample illustrations from other manga such as Cyborg 009 and Astro-Boy (Tetsuwan Atomu) with their big-eye style of art, which I admittedly sneered at and deemed not worth my time.     Korean Studio Announces the Chinese Version of the Monster Sequel Author: Kim Song-ho (Loomis) Source: Chungeorahm Film official press release, various The Korean production company Chungeorahm Film announced on June 25, 2008 (Korean date) that it will produce a `Chinese version` of the sequel to THE HOST (Gwoemul). This is a separate project from the already-announced THE HOST 2. The new film is a localized version, so it will feature Chinese performers and be produced in the Chinese language. According to the press release, the Chinese version is a joint production of Chungeorahm and Stoneman Films, Ltd., a Chinese company. Ning Hao, an up-and-coming director of China and also CEO of Stoneman Films, will direct.
