Pictures Japan has provided a trailer and logo for the Japanese release of KONG: SKULL ISLAND, a reimagining of the mythic King Kong by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures. The film`s Japanese title -- ????????????? (Kingukongu: Dokurotou no Kyoshin) -- translates to "King Kong: Giant God of Skull Island". Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (THE KINGS OF SUMMER), KONG: SKULL ISLAND stars Tom Hiddleston (THE AVENGERS, THOR series), Samuel L. Jackson (THE HATEFUL EIGHT, Marvel Cinematic Universe), Oscar winner Brie Larson (ROOM, TRAINWRECK), John Goodman (10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, ARGO) and John C. Reilly (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, STEP BROTHERS). Vogt-Roberts is directing the film from a screenplay by Max Borenstein (Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures` GODZILLA ), John Gatins, Dan Gilroy and Derek Connolly. KONG: SKULL ISLAND is produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni with Mary Parent. The executive producers are Eric McLeod and Alex Garcia. The legendary Kong is being brought to life by Industrial Light & Magic, with two-time Oscar winner Stephen Rosenbaum (AVATAR, FORREST GUMP) serving as visual effects supervisor. The studio promises that this Kong will have "a whole new scale" in order to engage in the ultimate monster showdown with Godzilla in a crossover film announced for 2020. KONG: SKULL ISLAND will be released worldwide in 2D, 3D in select theatres, and IMAX beginning March 10, 2017, from Warner Bros. Pictures. The Japanese release date is March 25, 2017. Story It was supposed to be a simple task... Searching for unknown creatures, a survey expedition lands on a mysterious island. But this was Skull Island, where people should never set foot. Skeletons are scattered everywhere on the island, and the rock walls are painted in blood. And, finally, the great god King Kong appears. A giant beast of unknown origin. The humans have no choice but to run. What is the secret of Skull Island? Can they can survive long enough to escape? And, is Kong an enemy of mankind... or a friend? A huge, mighty king awakens!
