VARIETY MARCH 7, 2018:
Michael Bay Sets ‘6 Underground,’ ‘Robopocalypse’ as Next Two Films (EXCLUSIVE)
Justin Kroll wrote:Michael Bay looks to have found not one, but his next two films to work on, as sources tell Variety he has lined up “6 Underground” and “Robopocalypse” as his next two projects.

“6 Underground” is a spec written by “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2” scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

The action movie is based on an original idea from Wernick and Reese, who will also executive produce. Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce ‘6 Underground’ along with Bay.

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps. It is slated to go into production this summer with Skydance for a summer 2019 release.

“Throughout his career Michael Bay has been unparalleled in creating global theatrical events,” David Ellison, CEO of Skydance Media, said. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have this amazing team come together, bringing their unique style and vision to the movie.”

Following “6 Underground,” Bay is also in talks to reunite with Steven Spielberg, who hand picked him to direct “Transformers,” to bring “Robopocalypse” to life.

Variety reports that Bay has signed on for two new projects. First up will be 6 Underground, an action movie written by Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. They wrote the original film on spec, and while official details are being kept under wraps for now, Variety reporter Justin Kroll tweeted that “one source just told [him] 6 Underground was described as The Rock meets Suicide Squad“. So I’m guessing that means six soldier/outlaw types will have to go underground in order to pull off a heist or daring escape of some kind.

Production is set to begin this summer, and the film is planned to hit theaters in summer of 2019. It’s also worth pointing out that Skydance Media is producing 6 Underground, and they’re the same company that’s working on the new Terminator movie, which is also slated for that same summer 2019 spot on the release calendar. Since we haven’t heard many promising updates about that movie, does this mean that Skydance will drop 6 Underground into that slot instead and push the new Terminator back a bit more?

Deadline May 22, 2018:
Netflix, Michael Bay, Ryan Reynolds & Skydance Set Action Franchise ‘Six Underground’

THR MAY 22, 2018:
Ryan Reynolds, Michael Bay Team for Skydance and Netflix's 'Six Underground'
Borys Kit wrote:Ryan Reynolds and Michael Bay are heading to Netflix.

Ryan Reynolds will star in Six Underground, a Michael Bay action movie that is seeing Skydance Media partner with Netflix.

The deal makes Six Underground the biggest movie push for Netflix since making Bright, the cop action fantasy starring Will Smith and director David Ayer. Until now, the digital streaming giant has focused on more mid-level and low-budget productions and acquisitions. A movie by Bay, the filmmaker behind city-leveling staples such as the Transformers and Bad Boys franchises, and Reynolds, coming off the massive opening of Deadpool 2, is groundbreaking for the company.

For Six Underground, Reynolds will be reunited with his Deadpool and Deadpool 2 writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who penned the script.

Sources say the plot revolves around six billionaires who fake their own deaths and form an elite team to take down bad guys.
