Yeah, I've loved it more and more with each rewatch. Easily the best Godzilla movie since Mothra vs Godzilla.

Can't believe we ever got something this good and weird. May never happen again.

Toho Kingdom just added 15 book scans of photographs detailing Godzilla's fifth form, the humanoid monsters that are glimpsed spawning from the end of his tail in the closing shot of the film. While Godzilla is mostly depicted via CGI in Shin Godzilla, the ending shot is a close-up of this physical model by Takayuki Takeya. In addition to providing a better look at the truly hellish monstrosities, these photos include the clearest look yet at the infamous Tailface, Godzilla's vestigial twin in the tip of his tail that blasts an atomic ray of its own.

It looks like Tailface has two sets of jaws: an outer set that vaguely resembles Godzilla's mouth and an inner set with a much more humanoid mandible and teeth.

Has anyone in this thread mentioned the fact that the opening to Shin Godzilla with the Coast Guard investigating the derelict boat in Tokyo Bay is very similar to the opening scene in Lucio Fulci's Zombie (aka Zombi 2)?

So we're all in agreement that the opening of Shin is an homage to Fulci's Zombie?

I've read a lot of hearsay that Anno is specifically a "known nationalist" and Abe supporter--And while I have no doubt of that based on the accounts of people I've spoken with, is there an English speaking source that goes into this a little more? The movie tends to speak for itself and Abe endorsing with no objection says worlds. But are there any other direct quotes from Anno about his political stance?

^ All I know of is his playing a nationalist super villain in Death Kappa, which could be seen as self-spoofing (when I originally saw it I thought it was simply a parody of similar villains in Japanese pop culture).

And his love of military tech, which seems to be prevalent in otaku culture cross the political spectrum.
