I think the level of Freaking (good or ill), is pretty significant. I mean these titles made news on Bluray.com. I think while some of us disagree on the minutiae, I think everyone here is thrilled for this, haven't seen one person outright say they think this is horrible news.

I appreciated getting Ultra Q, Ultraman, and Ultraseven on DVD all those years ago even though they were crummy Chaiyo copies which were, at best, merely serviceable. Can't wait to see proper, quality versions of them.

This is perfect because I'm FINALLY, after 20 years of loving Kaiju - understanding and appreciating Ultraman. So this is perfect for me, EXCEPT that I just sank like $60 on the Malaysian DVDs of Ultraman, Return, and Taro. Oh well, happy to double dip.

They are officially licensed Malaysian DVD. Calling them bootlegs would be tantamount to calling S!F Ultra Q and Ultraseven DVD releases bootlegs. I have the "Return of", Ace, Taro, and Jumborg Ace sets. I was happy with them, because I figured we'd never get them any other way, and they have subtitles. Of course I spent far less ($15 each). It's a better deal than say...spending hundreds of dollars on Super Sentai that have no subs, then double dipping later...

I remember that issue of G-fan I had as a teen, I think it was from 2001, that listed every single Ultra TV show, movie, special, everything up to that point along with a short synopsis and a little background info (date, number of episodes, etc.). The fact that I might actually be able to see most of this stuff is quite surreal. Can't wait.

My excitement is tempered by the fact that Mill Creek have had a few less-than-stellar presentations on some of their releases over the years. Oh, and the amount I spent on the Tiga DVDs on eBay .

^ Mill Creek is limited by the materials their licensors give them. Nevertheless, there's a stratification within their brand from deluxe releases, like their kaiju Blu-rays, and their usual budget releases intended for $5 to $10 bins.

When the whole Gamera 3 Blu-ray subtitle snafu happened all those years ago they really did right with their disc replacement program and had some of the nicest, my most convenient customer service I've ever dealt with.

I just realized something, it was Echo Bridge I was thinking of when it was announced that Mill Creek had Mothra.

Understandable, Echo Bridge puts out a LOT of shoddy product. But their release of Godzilla vs Biollante was a labor of love by one of the employees at that company, as he openly communicated with fans such as myself, and many others, on another forum. We even had emails going back and forth. he was always a consummate professional. IIRC I believe you may have had some issues with the audio on that release which is unfortunate, but believe me, it could have been far worse (not sure if the later Lionsgate release fixed those issues or not). But he did confess there were some things beyond his control, like his inability to get Ed G's commentary on there, which unfortunately may never be released to the public.

But Mill Creek isn't perfect either. I'll still support their releases, but at this point, nothing in terms of content/bonuses is guaranteed.

Hey, I bought the Chaiyo-licensed DVDs of Q, Ultraman, and Seven and enjoyed them. I wasn't pleased with the circumstances, but they were the most accessible way to watch those shows and there was no indication the rights nightmare would be resolved anytime soon one way or another.
