With the victory over Chaiyo (though, I believe the licensing rights for those first 6 series are still in question in a few territories) it was inevitable that Tsuburaya would try taking another crack at the international market and viola! Here we go:

Of course, we have no idea what shape an eventual series will take. These guys are basically a massive licencing outfit. I imagine they'd have to partner with someone to actually make a show or movie... of course, wouldn't it be cool if they essentially did it Power Rangers style with American 'drama' scenes and (in this case original) Japanese produced effects footage?

A) This Gomez fella is apparently an old school Ultraman and tokusatsu fan who grew up in the toku-mania of 70s Hawaii.
B) August promises an exciting announcement regarding the back catalogue of Ultra Series which he is not at liberty to discuss until it's officially announced!

Really hoping that the original series gets an official blu-ray release here in the States! They'll be able to
use the original excellent English dubbing while using the re-mastered blu-rays that were released in Japan I would presume.

Even better, I have a feeling there may be more Netflix Ultraman besides the anime series coming in April 2019. Perhaps
we'll get an announcement from Netflix that they'll be getting the original first six series to air/stream?

So exciting to finally see Ultraman coming back "home" to the States! I grew up with him and he'll always be my favorite hero!

Okay, this company Starlight Runner is supposed to be the one getting the new Ultraman projects off the ground, but there's also mention of something called The Licensing Group as partnering with Tsuburaya. Gormaru phrased what The Licencing Group is doing thusly:

We shall declare that 2019 will be the year of ULTRAMAN!!

I'd love to see the first six live action Ultraman series released to blu-ray using the remastered
Japanese prints. I'd also love to see Netflix pick up the streaming rights to the first six series
to broadcast as well on the service along with their upcoming April 2019 Ultraman animated series!

I'd also love to see a proper Ultraman toy line be kicked off from a toy company like Hasbro
or Neca!

Speaking conservatively, I'd imagine an American Ultraman movie to be like Ultraman The Next... only much more expensive. That movie struck me as Tsuburaya trying to do a Hollywood style film and I think they got the tone pretty spot on. I'd prefer something a bit more 'out there,' though.

For an American movie, IMO the number one thing is having someone like August Ragone or Brad Warner being brought "on board" the production so we get
a "Ultraman" that doesn't stray from the source material that Hollywood almost always abandons.

I'd like to see old school "man in suit" costumes of both Ultraman and the monsters/alien beings.

I'd prefer they keep the Science Patrol and it's members. The members being the next generation family members of Captain
Mura, Ito, Arashi, Fuji and Hayata. The well done Ultraman Manga did this with "Shin Hayata", Hayata's son inheriting the Ultraman DNA for that storyline.

No need to mess with Ultraman's origin. Still establish him as a "intergalactic law officer" in charge of making sure Earth is not invaded by wanted aliens and
creatures like the Baltans, Zarab, Red King, etc.

Anyways, I'm pumped for Ultraman in 2019! I'm hoping we'll get an announcement soon of a proper blu-ray release for the first six series! Remastered in HD.

After what a revelation Into the Spider-Verse was I couldn't help but think that, if they wanna go the animated feature route, that this would be a cool way to do Ultraman.

If nothing else just give us stateside fans a Blu-ray release... digitally restored, complete & uncut, with the beloved Titra dubs fully intact (and cleaned up a little if possible). That's all I would ask for. Anything else us just icing on the cake. Of course deluxe subbed dvd/Blu releases of the remaining 5 Ultra series over here in R1 would be welcome also.

No concrete stuff on exactly what projects are possibly in the works, more just his bonafides as a fan, what Starlight Media does, and how they're applying that to Ultraman. They're like the official version of a fansite or a fan wiki creating these enormous information resources that people can work from. To mention one really fun bit from the interview: Starlight Media does this for Transformers and the comics and cartoons work heavily from their materials, while Michael Bay consistently ignored them!

One particularly interesting bit: Gomez points out that the current iterations of the franchise in Japan have been targeting very small kids, but Tsuburaya wants a potential international franchise to be more like the Marvel, that is, a truly all-ages property for kids and adults.

I hope we get an announcement about these series becoming available soon. I wonder if when such a thing happens 'The Return of Ultraman' will be marketed as 'Ultraman Jack?'
