It hard to get a sense of scale, is that Giant Predator like 20 feet tall or 50 feet tall? and WHY is there a Giant Predator to begin with...

I'm afraid everyone's poor handling of the Olivia Munn situation (she spike out about unwittingly being in a scene acting opposite a convicted sexual predator, who's a longtime friend of the director - Fox excised his scene) has sapped my enthusiasm for seeing The Predator.

Reviews have said it's good until the third act.

So it's basically Predators. I liked that movie okay but don't know if I need to see the same kinda thing in theaters.

There's a handful of really good character scenes that belong in a better movie but this is a mess. It feels more like Independence Day Resurgence than Predator. Big miss for me.
There is one action scene early on that is great, and a lot of the humor works but it's mostly schlock and most scenes with the predator feel like they are explaining to death anything cool about the Predator.
The final scene feels out of place enough that it should have been post credit, but it went over very poorly with the audience I was with. Laughably awkward

After sleeping on it, I think most of the human scenes work well enough, but the creature scenes aside from the one action scene I mentioned expand the universe in all the wrong ways.
It also goes out of it's way to ignore Predators but does a lot of the same things Predators did but different... the weirdest being a strange redesign of the Predator dogs which now look like a dog with a predator head (which from a creature design perspective is just weird). The CG was rough, which is particularly painful when an entire character is CG for half the film.
So better characters, casting and dialogue than Predators but bad enough on the mythos I'd rank it lower.

While I didn't read every Predator comic Dark Horse came out with, I read a few. This just feels like an adaption of one of the comics. Warts and all. I loved the movie. It was fun, it was weird and wild and wasn't JUST a rehash of Predator in a new location. Yeah, it's nowhere near the first one and nothing will ever come close to that, a reboot would only re-enforce that fact (Robocop, Ghostbusters, and other reboots that were slices of wet bread compared to their source material), so wild and crazy sequels are better, especially the further down the line they get. So I'm more than fine with Predator 4: Citizens on Patrol.

Absolute "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" movie with no redeeming value whatsoever. Not as bad as Red Sparrow as far as movies released this year goes, but just as much of a travesty to the franchise as Covenant was to the Alien series. Go watch AvP Requiem instead.

Just saw this yesterday. To heck with the critics, I thought it was great! I don't see how you can be a Predator fan and not dig this flick. Then again, I loved all the AVP movies too, so...

This movie is so bad, it's kind of astounding. I know there was a lot BTS with studio interference and rewrites and whatnot, but studio interference doesn't put in a scene where a predator uses a severed arm to pretend to give someone a thumbs-up.

And I know some people will be like "that sounds awesome" or whatever, and yeah, it IS fun...

...but there's nothing WRONG with just admitting that something fun is ALSO really, REALLY terrible.

And also, The Predator is at best, intermittently fun. It's largely just a huge sack of crap.

This mess feels like Shane Black shredded the scripts of a dozen B-movies, and pasted random scraps of them onto a phase 1 MCU movie template. It's easily the worst of the non-AvP Predator movies.

Predator removed from the 80s action era is a fish flopping on a trawler's deck, unable to survive outside its natural environment. Maybe there's just no place for this franchise in the modern movie landscape. Or maybe The Predator was just so bad that I feel that way for now.
