New Ultraman series for 2017: Ultraman Geed.

So I've gotten caught up on Geed and I was absolutely loving the show until just after belial showed up. That was an excellent episode, but all the episodes after that feel like filler episodes or just have very generic stories. That said, the monster action was still top notch. I loved the kaiju that fired beams that turned into blackholes. I'm excited for the final episode. This will be the first of the modern Ultra shows that I have completed. Ultraman X is next on the table!

That poor Galaxy Mart guy.... when is he going to get a proper store again? It's been six months, he seems to have steady business. This pop-up thing might be trendy but that ain't going to fly once Winter settles in.

I have to go back and rewatch, probably about half the episodes I was distracted by other things. There were things I did not like compared to Orb and X, but I did not think it was a bad show. I really liked the ending, I loved the battle between Geed and Belial, and how Geed basically defeated him with . I would have liked it a little bit more if I believed for a second that Belial was gone for good.

Finally have had time to sit down and start this show. We just watched up to episode 12 and it has been great thus far. Taking a little dinner break, but episode 13 is sounding like it is going to be a clip show, so we will just skip it and go right to 14.

I have to say I got a laugh out of how long the first Zero Beyond transformation was. For a moment there I thought they snuck a toy commercial into the stream. The King Joe/Zetton form of the author was pretty cool.

i've heard some pretty mixed reactions on Geed, but I really liked it. I think Zero and Leito really elevated the show for me... and yes the Zero Beyond transformation was so ridiculous i was grinning like an idiot the whole way through. I think the second half of the season could be reordered a bit to maintain the tension better, but I am definitely on board for R/B from the same team

So far I see nothing wrong with the show. Sure, it isn't as good as Orb (it has yet to have an episode that matches the Black Star Coffee), but it's still a solid show overall. My only problem with it is that so far Belial is all talk and no show. He's quite lackluster as far as villains go.

Episodes 14 and 15 were really good, probably the best ones thus far. Moa is turning into being my favorite character with Zero/Leito in second.

I've been meaning to ask this but always forget and since Dada was featured in Geed, I figured I'd ask here. Is Dada like the Quentessons from Transformers, just with their other faces covered? Like in the original show he had three faces, but they never showed how or why it switched and the size of what looks to be hair seems to match what could be his other faces covered by some sort of armor.

So we watched episodes 16-20 tonight and I have some mixed feelings. Sixteen and 17 were great, but they felt like they should have been the grand finale of the series. None of the three episodes we watched after it felt all that impressive. I also instantly hate the Misery lady. Not only does she make no sense, she feels tacked on while also being poorly acted. The fights also don't feel as grand suddenly and I'm already tired of Geed's king form. They're not bad by any means, and the one with Geryon was interesting (though, he seemed A LOT weaker than his Ultra Seven counterpart), but I feel like these episodes were tacked on.

^ it all comes together more or less, but thats what I meant earlier about reordering some of the second half of the series.

I think the most important thing about the King form is that it shows its viable to have Ultra's fighting with capes. Lets have a caped ultra!

We just finished Geed and those last five episodes were quite good. A solid ending to what was a good show in the end despite it losing some steam for a few episodes. The Misery girl was unneeded and the "plot twist" with her felt forced, but I can let that slide for a well done final showdown.

If I were to rank the latest Ultra series, it would go:

1. Orb
2. Geed
3. X
4. Ginga

My favorite episode(s) is the two parter that dealt with Moa and the AIB dudes. My least favorite is easily the one after Belial's defeat that introduced the lady who wanted to know all about Rei.

^ i think i agree with those rankings. I feel like maybe X would be higher because i enjoyed it a lot when i first watched it, but that may have been more about it being a competent entry after Ginga and an absence. In hindsight, the early armors and the spark dolls never really gelled with me.

X I liked, but I felt it had a lot of missed opportunities, especially when it came to the scientists. It also doesn't help that I watched it directly after Orb.

Just posting here now that I'm watching Mill Creek BRD. Is the "universe ending" event that is referred to often, covered in another series or movie? Or does it just serve as the backstory for Geed?

The Crisis Impact was made for Geed specifically but it tracks with Belial's previous schemes.

I watched the movie last night. Made me want to rewatch the series again - glad to see the characters all together again
