The man has done some undeniably interesting, arresting movies throughout his career, but I NEVER could figure out why he'd even want to try a Trek film. In fact, ANY sci-fi film. It's like a gonzo porn director suddenly wanting to direct a Disney film or something. Tarantino simply isn't the right "fit" for ST. The whole idea of swearing-up TREK and beaming for an R rating seemed so ridiculous - like they were trying to be controversial and edgy
just for that reason alone; not because it made sense within the context of the story or what have you. It's almost the exact opposite of the recent ROBOCOP remake, where they skewed more friendly just to get a wider audience into theater seats, not because it made more sense from a story standpoint. And we all know how well that turned out.
I've never been really glad before to learn that a film in a franchise I enjoy was NOT getting made, but that is certainly the case here. And in all honesty, the idea of Spock telling Kirk that something seemed "Motherf*cking logical, motherf*cker!" really,
really bothered me!
