Mill Creek has put their HD version of Night of the Living Dead on Amazon Prime... and it's nothing to write home about. Beats your usual public domain copy, but otherwise it just shows me I should wait for Criterion's eventual release.

^ No, Janus Films has been working on a restored version with Romero (before he passed). That restoration is supposed to have some kind of limited theatrical run, then presumably a Criterion home video release.

The film itself is public domain, but Mill Creek's is gonna be the first US Blu-Ray release. There's apparently a Japanese release that's decent.

Now that it seems Mill Creek's Gamera and Daimajin releases have gone OOP I'd gladly rebuy if, say, Arrow Video scooped up the rights and did their magic on them. I don't know if their Daimajin release could be improved upon, but there's definitely room for improvement with the Gameras, what with the compression and 1080i on their releases for the Showa films and Kadokawa's 4K remasters of the trilogy + The Brave done last year.

Honestly, I just can't get over my first Arrow Video purchase (the Female Prisoner Scorpion set) and they put together such cool packaging I'm just itching to get more from them. Reversible cover art with the Japanese posters!

Just curious if it truly is region-free and also how the quality is. If it isn't much better than the DVD then I'll pass. But if it's super-awesome-amazing, then I will likely pull the trigger.

The description says region free, and even if it's not it's a Hong Kong release and they're in the same region as us (I've got several HK Blu-Rays on my Christmas list).

ok, so it seems there is no news about this, but I've found only on 2 sites (one of them being walmart.com, which I think is pretty reliable), that the original Space Ghost & Dino Boy series, which was released on dvd 10 years ago and has been long oop, will be re-released on 12/5/17. I'm glad I waited, almost paid wayyy to much for an oop copy. It is supposed to be a MOD on WB shop, but not even they are advertising it as of yet. I pre-ordered it on Wal-Marts website. It's also available for pre-order on oldies.com

Glad to see Space Ghost getting a new release, I missed out on the original release. I'm just a little disappointed that the new release looks to be a MOD, hopefully just maybe it'll actually be a pressed disc release.

I saw at Walmart a couple of months ago that a bunch of Hanna Barbara sets had been reprinted, now in standard DVD cases with new matching red packaging and at a low price. Almost picked up Jonny Quest and the original Scooby-Doo.

If there's an HB series I'd really love to see on Blu-ray (besides Godzilla), it would definitely be the '64 Jonny Quest. Hands down greatest animated show HB ever did, IMHO.

I have the DVD set, but would love to see this show restored frame-by-frame and remastered in hi-def. Maybe someday...

yeah Warner is re-releasing a lot of their HB properties as "diamond collections". I got the first Johnny Quest DVD set. I'm not sure if the original elements are suitable for a blu ray release or not. It would be nice to see if possible, and of course a fully restored and uncensored audio track.

I've always found it funny that the audio was censored in those two or three points and yet the subtitles are intact. I wonder if it was a case of some suit at WB ordering the censoring and whomever had to do it made sure to leave the subtitles alone in a form of thumbing their nose at the WB exec.

Almost pulled the trigger on the Suspiria limited edition Blu-Ray - glad I didn't, 'cause the non-limited wide-release version will be released in march!

I'm having a hard time deciding which edition of Suspiria to get. Looking at screencap comparisons, I kind of feel like both the Synapse and TLE restorations have their strengths and weaknesses compared to each other.
