I picked up Asphalt Jungle, The Graduate, The Killing, and Kiss Me Deadly from the Criterion sale. The Killing is an upgrade for me from DVD, but that's one of my faves. I haven't seen Asphalt Jungle yet but I've heard nothing but good things

^Kiss Me Deadly was a blind buy from a previous Criterion sale and that film is wild!

^You think you're getting another stylish low budget noir, but then the writer and director's shared hatred of the Mike Hammer character (who they see as a thug and a fascist) turns it almost into some sort of satire of the genre and then it becomes and apocalyptic science fiction movie!

The Asphalt Jungle is as perfect and witty as Double Indemnity. I think it just became my fifth favorite Noir.

So Media Blasters' releases of Frankenstein Conquers the World and Space Amoeba have appeared on Amazon suddenly. They're $30 a piece, but I ordered them since I don't want to take a chance of missing out on them again. I wonder if MB renewed their license?

So, either a) they found these copies in storage, b) the license is gonna expire so they churned out some new copies before that, or c) they're bootlegs.

Right? Maybe?

I've seen bootlegs of MB stuff before, (I actually obtained what I was told was a copy of the AIP cut of "YOG Monster from Space" on DVD, but it was a MB bootleg of Space Amoeba, they kept the logos and everything on the dvd, I shut that person down pretty fast)...but I'm almost certain someone on Amazon would out them almost right away...Well, I hope whoever orders them gets the original product.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

They're being sold by Amazon though, so they can't be bootlegs.

My copies arrive on Friday, but if they somehow are, Amazon will have no choice but to refund me my money.

Awesome for those of you who missed them the first time!

Hard to believe these releases were a decade ago.

Oh wow, I wonder where these came from.

It's weird that it's only Amazon selling these. Of the classic Toho sci-fi titles that MB released, it looks like Varan is the only one that hasn't suddenly popped up at a cheaper price. Neither has MB's 2007 DVD of Toei's Legend of Dinosaurs and Monster Birds.

Everything else is suddenly available again: Matango, The Mysterians, Dogora, Atragon, Space Amoeba, Frankenstein vs. Baragon, and Latitude Zero. That's fantastic for fans who missed out on any of those back when they first came out. Maybe this news should get its own thread?

Nice. Have you opened them up? Are they definitely factory pressed discs?

I just got my discs of Dogora and Frankenstein Conquers the World. They look like legit pressed discs, however, they lack the mail-in insert my other Tokyoshock DVDs had. So I'm wondering if these are actually reissues, or just Mediablasters (or whoever owns them at the moment) of releasing a bunch of found unsold stock. That said, they look legit to me. I should be getting the Latitude Zero DVD tomorrow. I plan on watching these films tonight when I get back from a BBQ.

*Edit* Just threw in both discs to see what the prints look like and they both seem to be legit. My verdict is buyem if you don't have them.

They look it. THey even have MB's codes on the underside of the disc. Although, the code on Space Amoeba does not match the code on the box, which is weird.

I just checked my Space Amoeba DVD that I got back in 2006 and it has TSDVD-0527 on both the underside of the disc and the packaging spine. What does yours have?

I just placed an order for Dogora. If it's a boot then I'll send it back to Amazon.

TSDVD-0801 is what is on the disc underside.

That's odd. According to Media Blasters' product inventory, TSDVD-0801 is the item number for their 2008 DVD of the South Korean horror film Red Eye (2005).

This sucks. These pop up online and I just lost my job, so I'm obviously not making frivolous purchases at this time.

I still need Space Amoeba and Latitude Zero...and I've always regretted getting Mysterians and Dogora over those two because I don't care too much for Mysterians and Dogora and I've seen Space Amoeba and Latitude Zero and I like those.
Gills.
