Keep seeing the phrase 'containment facility.' I wonder if these kaiju will be escaping of their own accord or will be broken out or roused up by some other party.

Got a chance to watch "KRAMPUS" a couple of nights ago. After seeing his style on that, it makes me very curious and somewhat confident that he'll give us a solid G-film. Just need to find a few minutes to plop down and watch TRICK-r-TREAT.

Things seem to be shaping up nicely. Just hope we'll get some official looks at the new M, R & KG. That's all I'll really need to calm my nerves more or less completely.

This is all pretty darn awesome imo. I love that they're referring to Ghidorah as "Monster Zero"; possibly a sign in this continuity that he's been frozen in the ice for a very, very long time (like a "patient zero")? Obviously they only found him recently, but perhaps examination of the ice he's trapped in reveals he's been in there for millions of years, thus dating him as the first monster they're aware of, chronologically speaking.

Or it could just be nothing more than a cool code name. Either way it's a nice reference. And having him stuck in the ice gives them some leeway with his origins too, since they could easily say he crashed to Earth from space and became frozen in the ice (at some point, given the cave painting he's already appeared in), or just have him be an Earthbound creature, or simply it ambiguous and up to the audience to decide. And with the containment facility built around him you just know we're going to get another MUTO 2.0/Final Wars scene where he causes devastation when he inevitably wakes up and breaks free, so that's great too!

And it sounds like they're actually being a lot more faithful to Mothra's origins than I'd expected too, even just with what they've revealed here. And a "high-altitude jungle" sounds like a really cool monstery location. And of course Rodan in a volcano with another containment facility to destroy.

All this is sounding great! Why do we have to wait another two years to see it?!

Magnificent. If this is how Mothra looks in the movie then it really couldn't be better. I'm interested to see her color scheme.

Black with red and yellow patterns on her wings, yellow horns with purple beams that she can shoot from her eyes!





Really though, I'd imagine it'll be pretty close to what we know as her traditional colour scheme, at least in terms of it largely consisting of a combination of the usual black, orange, yellow and white. You can see she's got the spots on her wings on that mural, so I'd be surprised if they went with anything too different from what we already know in that regard.

Next summer at Comic Con, I will be at Hall H for whatever they unveil. Just like 2013, I'll report live from the venue and unlike last time where I had a pass but was about 2 days too late to get into the hall but figured out a way to get into the first group, I tested the waters this year and managed to get in with no pass at all. My system worked like a charm....HA!!!

I plan on pacing myself this time around, lurk mostly and comment when necessary. I'm also awaiting a reply to an extra casting call I've been involved with...

2014 (thereabouts) seems like the last time comic con was a big deal. It's like the last time it felt like EVERY major studio went and tried to really wow the crowd with something. Now, a lot of studios skip and they don't even really bring that much to show when they go...and it just goes online instantly. Studios are pulling out of the SDCC game, in terms of throwing a lot of money and debuting teasers and using it as a big marketing piece.

Remember how Warner Bros. originally scheduled Godzilla 2 for June 8, 2018 before Paramount muscled in on the date with Transformers 6? WB eventually fled the date and moved Godzilla 2 to March 22, 2019.

Well, Paramount just went and abandoned that June 2018 release date. According to , they've now pushed Bumblebee to December 21, 2018, the same day as WB's Aquaman.

When WB moved Godzilla 2 away from Transformers 6 in early 2016, they had every reason to believe that it was a necessary move. The live-action Transformers film series had been a box office mega-heavyweight from the beginning and both the third and fourth films grossed over $1 billion worldwide in 2011 and 2014. The irony, beyond the fact that both WB and Paramount ended up vacating that June 2018 release date, is that we're now at a point where the Monsterverse is arguably a stronger, healthier franchise than Transformers.

The Transformers films peaked in North America with the second entry, Revenge of the Fallen, which made a mammoth $402 million domestic in 2009 without even playing in 3-D. The domestic returns have been declining substantially since then, although $352m for Dark of the Moon and $245m for Age of Extinction were both still very successful results. Plus, the series rode the wave of rapid international box office expansion that began about a decade ago and parlayed it into bigger foreign returns with each entry, particularly in China, where the fourth film remains one of the highest-grossing movies ever.

But just as the Transformers films peaked with part two in North America, part four proved to be the high watermark in China and the rest of the world. This summer's Transformers: The Last Knight has sold than its predecessors. It's currently sitting at just $128m in North America, a figure which the first film eclipsed during its first week of play ten years ago. Moreover, it's currently at $440m international with only Spain, Israel, and Japan left to open. It's not going to come anywhere close to the $858m international total of Age of Extinction or even the $771m international for Dark of the Moon. More than half of that $440m international has come from China, where its $228m haul represents a big decline from the $320m earned by the previous film in that country. It's also hugely frontloaded with the movie having made $125m in China by the end of its opening weekend.

Conversely, Kong: Skull Island just made $168m in North America, compared to a final domestic total of (at most) $132m for Transformers: The Last Knight. Skull Island has also outperformed The Last Knight in most international territories with the biggest exception being China, although Kong's $168m Chinese total from a $71m debut weekend is a stronger show of staying power than the frontloaded Transformers 5. Skull Island has also managed to outperform Godzilla in a number of countries, including China, indicating that the Monsterverse is on the upswing in terms of audience reception.

Both Godzilla: King of the Monsters and especially Godzilla vs. Kong have the potential to build on the success of their predecessors, whereas the next Transformers movie is all but certain to continue the series' downward box office trajectory. Warner Bros.' Monsterverse no longer needs to fear competition from Paramount's Transformers series. The shoe is on the other foot now.

So, there's apparently a rumor going around that they're filming 'a scene' in Japan. I remember having the movie being partially set in Japan was a stipulation by Toho for Godzilla, but does that extend beyond the first movie to every movie?!


It would be great if one of these MonsterVerse films could actually used Japan as a primary location. Just saying; Tokyo would make a great place for Kong and Godzilla to throw down!

It would be pretty awesome to see on a number of levels. Sure we've seen Tokyo destroyed countless times before, but never in a big budget Hollywood monster movie like this. It could be visually pretty spectacular beyond just being an obvious nod.

And yeah, it's kind of a shame Legendary pushed Godzilla 2 back a year to get out of the way of Transformers given where we are now. Hindsight's 20-20 and it's completely understandable why they did it at the time, and hey, giving King of the Monsters several extra months of fine-tuning and whatnot should hopefully only be a good thing. But man, it's still annoying that we're going to have to wait twice as long as we probably would have if they'd known then what they know now.

Could just be a in-joke, a prop in the background, and with Dougherty's (and Wingard's) being full-blooded monster kids I'm sure we're in for many in-jokes.
