For those of you who pledged passed a certain low amount on the Kickstarter: Season 11 premier starts midnight tomorrow night and'll be available for viewing for 24 hours!

Everyone else has to wait a few days when the entire season drops on Netflix!

Well, just rewatched episode one, after a rather bleary viewing at 2 am last night when the stream went live.



It's pretty great. New cast is great, the visuals and sound of the thing is really neat. It just feels like it's in the right hands

Had to adjust to the new rhythm of the jokes and riffing. That's the biggest change; it's so stuffed full of jokes that it can be a bit breakneck, and I may have wanted a few slower host segments to get more of the new characters and voices because I liked them and wanted to get more of a feel for them, especially the new Mads.

For me, the biggest issue was that Baron doesn't have the bombastic baritone that J. Elvis and Kevin brought to Tom Servo. Hampton, on the other hand, sounds just like Bill's Crow. There is some great chemistry between the trio, the riffs came fast and furious (including one classic callback).

Great choice for the first film, and the stinger is the very one I would have chosen.

We know from the trailer that at least one of the films is Reptillicus, but can anyone identify any of the other films shown in the trailer?--Is the list posted a while back pretty much accurate? If so I am very excited to start watching this Friday

^Ah, Joel's been on us fans (via the Kiststarter updates) to preserve the show's various surprises for months now, so it kinda rubs off on ya!

And you and the fans have done an amazing job. I've never been one to let spoilers bother me. I can know literally everything about a movie or TV series before watching it, and it wont take away any of the surprise or enjoyment for me...Still all that being said, I'm very much looking forward to this Friday. Also with my busy schedule, there's no way I can marathon this, heck I may not even be able to watch it daily...It may just become my "regular Saturday night thing" for the coming weeks, which will keep me entertained for quite some time.

I agree with Jelly D, its also getting hard to avoid gifsets and spoilers of all the key scenes if you dont get out opening weekend

I'm 5 episodes in and in total diehard MSTie fanboy heaven! With each episode the season starts to gel more. The riffing is stellar, the host segments cute and totally MST, and I love the casting. The return has been well worth the wait!

I was able to see my name in the season 4 credits! So far I really like it. I do feel like there are some growing pains as its different than what I've been watching for the past 20 years. That said, the heart of the show is still there and they picked up some great movies!

ok, so I decided to do something I've never done before...stay up until midnight, hoping to see a new Netflix release the moment it became available. I always wondered when exactly NF titles are added, but I guess they can tell by your address when you register what time zone you are in so as to not accidentally release something early. Sure enough, at 12:01, the new season was there!.

I watched about the first 30-40 minuets of Reptilicus (no spoiler here, its been in the trailer released a couple of weeks ago). Everything looked right, felt right, from Jonah & the bots, to the Mads and all the sets and everything else in-between. I was just too darn tired to appreciate the jokes, so I went to bed, and hope to fully enjoy it this afternoon/evening when I get off work. I think it was kind of beneficial to see the Rifftrax MST3K reunion show as it gave me confidence since last summer of Jonah's ability to host, and be funny (since I've never seen any of his other web shows).

Definitely looking forward to enjoying these slowly over the coming weeks

ok so I'm all kids of crazy about stats and numbers, so I decided researching what has been released on DVD thus far between classic Rhino releases & S!F. I am also aware that S!F has been pretty good about going back and releasing some of the OOP Rhino sets, there were 12, and they are about to release #5, still its a bit disconcerting that with the release of Volume 38, that content for a 39th DVD set was not revealed (as is customary)...hopefully when the Vol5 re-release comes out in May we may get some news...

So basically of the 38 volumes released to date there have been 153 episodes released. Now I know there are quite a few individual releases as well, and in addition there is the infamous Vol 10 (Godzilla vs Megalon) which was pulled almost immediately due to rights issues, but still it was released. So when you consider the classic season 1-10 (not counting KTMA "season 0" shows since they will most likely never be released) you take 176 episodes. 176-153=23. So...we have 23 classic episodes not released on any box set thus far...and they are:

Now we all know S!F has been working tirelessly to obtain rights to certain films in order to get them approved for release on DVD. however it appears that currently, they have enough based on previous DVD releases to release at least 2 more box set volumes. Perhaps they could release one set of collected previously released films, while trying to secure rights to others , and just alternate-thus the releases keep coming, and they get more time to try to negotiate with film studios etc...

Also, what does anyone think of the unlikely, but interesting prospect of future dvd releases being *sprinkled* with some of the new Netflix episodes? You could have a Joel Ep, a Mike Ep, and 2 Joneh Eps all on one DVD set...?

Sorry for all the rambling, but I just like to see projects finished, and I'd love one way or another to see all of MST3K released on home media. they've come way further than I thought they ever would, and now the show is back, so I don't see why it cant happen, eventually.

^Why, yes: I'll take a break from watching Episode #2 (a phenomenally appropriate from MST3K bigfoot film called Cry Wilderness) to talk about MST home video releases!

This thread on the likelihood of episode releases has been continuously updated for over a decade and has tracked who owns what movie as well as Shout's amazing dedication to licensing them through the years:

Susan Hart, who owns all those unreleased A.I.P. movies, apparently believes these films are worth far more than they are, doesn't like them being made fun of, and apparently licensing them in any capacity is astronomically high. Wade Williams owns Rocketship X-M and has a similar story. Paramount owns Girls Town, Fire Maidens, Deadly Bees, Space Children, and Diabolik. Amazing Transparent Man is with MGM and Shout's already released the movie itself on DVD, so that one is likely for release. Quest of the Delta Knights seems to be by a small company, and is also seen as likely. I feel like Shout is negotiating with Paramount for those five episodes and already has those last two cleared. It's just my hunch. Of course, that leaves seven episodes and we need eight for two more sets, so who knows? Maybe they'll just put out a super-deluxe seven episode set for the final release?

I've been collecting the home video releases since 2004 when the Sci-Fi Channel stopped rerunning the series! It was quite fun/difficult to hunt down all those single releases before I discovered online shopping.

Thanks for the link, that's a very informative thread. TBH, the only DVD set I known is the Gamera one (XXI). I also have a few Rifftrax shorts DVD volumes. I used to have the single disc release of Beginning of the End, but sold it when I figured I'd never be able to get them all. The ease of accessing these on various sites made my purchase more selective. Still if S!F ever came out with a Mega set that had all the episodes, (kind like their Power rangers 20th anniversary thing), even if it was like $700, I'd find a way to get it.

I also had The Movie (This I sland earth) on VHS at one time, I need to get that again (I think its on Blu ray), also I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for the OOP Volume 10 with G v Megalon on it, I've come really close before, but then other things took priority. I've seen them go as low as $120...but not right now, they are like $200-300+, but I'm patient...

Also by all means when you have time, if you've been watching new season episodes post your thoughts...I'll get to them soon enough

I liked the first episode, and Reptilicus is a favorite, but the second episode is a lot better. Cry Wilderness is just a perfect MST3K movie: totally inexplicable and pretty much entirely unknown before the show rediscovered it. I get the feeling that maybe the movie was sponsored by some state park.

I didn't enjoy "Cry Wilderness" as much, but I did love the return from that past (and I don't just mean the Rowsdower reference).

I'm pacing myself to one a week, even though my name should appear in the credits around Episode 5.
