I have to say, I'm a tad surprised that there's as much middling to negative feedback on this as there is.
To me, something like an anime is the place to do crazy stuff and go off the rails. The visibility on it is going to be WAY less than a movie. It will be easier to ignore things you don't like. It's somewhere between movies and comics in terms of the visibility. The comics do some crazy, good, bad, stupid, wonderful, horrible things...but nobody's pitching a fit because they're over there.
Given the spoilers we know for Shin Goji, I actually wish it would have been an anime. Somehow, that'd make it seem more palatable.
Is any of this making sense? I'm a little off my game and rambly.
