By the way, what incarnation of Rodan do they use? I sincerely hope it's not the Heisei/Fire Rodan version...

I always want to see 56 Rodan, but since this is IDW my money is on Trendmaster's Rodan...

Storywise the first issue was alright. There is a little bit of humor but otherwise they're just trying to establish the setting. Godzilla only makes a brief appearance but it could be interesting however I did not like the art style at all. It looked more like scribbles than actual art I cared to see. There were a couple panels that looked kind of cool. One was a shot of Godzilla and the other was a shot of King Ghidorah otherwise I was not really impressed.

I have almost nothing serious to add to any conversation ever.

I dig the setup and plot so far. The interiors are a mixed bag. The humans are expressive, which I like but the monsters are inconsistent and sometimes look a little unfinished... Like Ghidorah's feet, which are bizarre when present and even more bizarrely absent from a number of panels

It seems kaiju are just hard for some artists to crack, you know? I like this artist's style overall, and like keen said, the humans are nicely expressive, but in some spots he seems to really struggle with the monsters.

I brought the issue and I has to post that I like it. The story is interesting and Godzilla only appear in one panel. I hope that the rest of the mini-series is just as good.

Real talk? I kind of dug it. It's a real odd story, but I like the idea of Godzilla keeping things in check and killing off other monsters before they can grow giant. And yeah, the art is okay, but not horrible. I really liked this panel:
