New DVD/Blu-ray Purchases

I went to Best Buy today to see if I they had the exclusive steelbook of Fury Road.

They did not.

What frustrates me the most about the 2011 Thundercats cancellation is that Cartoon Network appears to have colluded with LEGO in a way that killed the new Thundercats show (and probably both are guilty). The people at working on the new Thundercats show (or WB, whomever was handled such dea) went to LEGO with plenty of production artwork to show LEGO and the people there decided they weren't interested in doing Thundercats sets. No harm no foul right? Well imagine the surprise for the folks working on the 2011 Thundercats show in January 2012 when they see the advertisement for the LEGO Chima show (a replacement for Ninjago) running on Cartoon Network while Thundercats is on its 3 or 4 month long mid-season break.

Now, we all know deals like this do not happen overnight. Such deals take time to put together on top of necessary development time LEGO needs to for character design & set creation, plus the time needed for show development & animation. At a bare minimum I figure Cartoon Network and LEGO had reached an agreement on the Legends of Chima show in the summer of 2011 right around the time when Thundercats was premiering; that's about 5 months before the Janurary 2012 promos for the Legends of Chima show aire on CN.

Don't want to get too OT, but you are not the first to bring that up. I heard from others, the Legends of Chima is perhaps a "ripoff" of Thurdercats, but I have never seen it, nor do I have any desire to, so I cannot confirm. The only Lego stuff I have seen is the actual Lego Movie, and the various Marvel & DC related direct to to video short films.

Back on topic, I watched the first two episodes of SW Rebels Blu Ray. I'm a little disappointed they didn't have an option to watch the first 2-parter combined in "movie-format", but its still nice to have the fully unedited version with the Darth Vader intro.

The Big Bang Theory Season 6 and Season 7 both on Blu-ray. I'm all caught up now until Tuesday when Season 8 comes out. I'll probably pick up Season 8 on Tuesday.

I just ordered the Avengers: Age of Ultron 3D combo pack. I also ordered Agents of SHIELD Season 1 blu-ray set for my mom -- Amazon is price matching Best Buy at $24.99; amazing sale price for the set especially with Disney basically overseeing home video for Marvel (and ABC I guess too) and Disney being known to keep prices for their home video stuff high for much longer than thei8r competitors.

So, if anyone is at all interested in picking up the Agents of SHIELD series on blu-ray put in an order through Amazon ASAP or head down to your local Best Buy to try picking up a copy there. The set has an MSRP of $80 and typically sells in the $40 to $50 range.

^If I'm being totally honest, I think this is my least favorite Marvel movie and I'm really not even looking forward to re-watching it (haven't seen it since theaters) at all. But at this point, I own ALL the others, and Marvel has me pretty firmly in their grasp until Infinity War (which I really do hope feels like a good ending place, even if it is littered with SOME sequel-bait stuff to keep the MCU going).

^I loved this movie. The first was kinda meh, but this one is awesomely fun and funny and really does something very unique in the zombie genre. Great time.


^Whenever I watch the show on Tuesdays, my daughter will just stop and stare at the TV and has already learned "Kermit" "Fozzy" and says a few of the more obvious animals like "BEAR" and "BIRD" and "MOUSE". I figured I should work on getting some of the movies. I have the Segel one, but that's it.

^Got it for $20. It normally goes for over $30.


^Another that normally goes for WAY more than I bought it. I got it for like $30 and this set usually sells for $45 to $50 or more.


^I lent mine to somebody and never got it back. There's no greater frustration for me. I LOANED this to you, buddy. I didn't GIVE it to you. I'm not just THAT nice a guy.


^It was like $12 at Best Buy. I don't love the second and third movies, but I have enough fun with them as just scifi/action fare.

I kinda splurged a little at Walmart. They had a bunch of awesome horror blu rays for about $6.50 a piece so I loaded up with all the films I didn't have.
