I'm not sure what my order was on previous posting, and I don't feel like going back and hunting for it. I will say that, in the last year-and-change, GFW has moved up a little bit in my estimation, so that now Tokyo SOS is definitively lock in to my bottom spot. For all the problems I have with it, GFW is at least overflowing with bizarre and audacious elements, whereas Tokyo SOS is just incapable of holding my attention.
I'm kicking around switching my #3 and #4. I've always ranked the first three Millennium flicks about the back three, with a pretty wide gap between the two halves, but on last viewing the gap between Megaguirus (in third place) and Mechagodzilla (in fourth) narrowed considerably. Megaguirus doesn't really have much repeat watch value (I mostly like it for three or four cool moments), and Mechagodzilla, while it still strikes me as very bland, doesn't seem as cursory in its human drama as I used to find it. So, it may be edging Megaguirus out of the #3 spot. I dunno.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.
