The biggest change would probably be Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla jumping up a few notches and Tokyo SOS dropping to possibly last place (that will depend on this upcoming Megaguirus viewing)

So if i were to rank them at this point it would be

- GMK
- Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla
- Godzilla 2000
- Godzilla Final Wars
- Godzilla vs. Megaguirus
- Godzilla Tokyo SOS

Which looks like the same list Pkmatrix had

So about a year has past and i'm revisiting films... but the biggest difference, i think is FW which has dropped to last place in the Millennium series. For every one thing i like in this movie, there seems to be 2 things i don't like... so while there are far more things i like in FW than in Megaguirus, there are only a few scenes in Megaguirus that i actively dislike... i'd still rank FW above Spacegodzilla and Rides Again, but this most recent viewing was not as forgiving

Final Wars dropped a lot on my last viewing. As far as the millennium films go it used to be 3rd and now its 5th.

My new list:

1)GMK
2)Tokyo SOS
3) Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla
4) Godzilla 2000
5)Godzilla vs. Megagiras
6) Godzilla: Final Wars (IMO the very worse Japanese made Godzilla film)

This is a work in progress since I'm working my way through the Milennium films again.

EDIT:

Godzilla, Mothra & King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla
Godzilla: Tokyo SOS
Godzilla 2000: Millennium (Godzilla 2000)
Godzilla vs. Megaguirus
Godzilla: Final Wars

GXM is mediocre throughout (minus the swarm scene, which I felt was very well done). G2K has a solid cast, but Orga is a lame duck monster I care nothing for. The end battle is Meh.

Every time I watch Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah, I end up liking it that much more. And the thing is, it's far from perfect. This film is a prime example of Toho's influence on the overall production doing more harm than good, because Shusuke Kaneko ultimately had to alter his original story to comply with Shogo Tomiyama's restrictions. However, even though GMK is rough around the edges (it could have used a bit more time in post-production, particularly for some of the effects work), the quality and the talent is evident. To my taste, it's the best Godzilla movie since Godzilla Versus The Sea Monster. But that's just me.

So, the Millennium Godzilla series, insofar as I enjoy it, goes as follows...

Godzilla Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters all-Out Attack
Godzilla x Mechagodzilla
Tokyo SOS
Godzilla 2000
Godzilla x Megaguirus
Godzilla Final Wars

So I think I need to rerank the movies from what I did a while ago.

I'm pretty sure my list would go:

GMK
GxMG
Tokyo SOS
2000
FW
Mega

What in god's name was I thinking when I made this? o_O

1. Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
2. Godzilla 2000
3. Godzilla X Mothra X MechaGodzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.
4. Godzilla: Final Wars
5. Godzilla X MechaGodzilla
6. Godzilla X Megaguirus: G-Eradication Command

The first list was in 2008, the other in 2013, 5 years later, and now, 2 years or so later I know my ranking is different, YET AGAIN!

1. Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
2. Godzilla 2000
3. Godzilla X MechaGodzilla
4. Godzilla X Mothra X MechaGodzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.
5. Godzilla: Final Wars
6. Godzilla X Megaguirus: G-Eradication Command

I can't believe there was a time when I ranked Final Wars above Godzilla 2000 or x MechaGodzilla last. Ridiculous!

I'm not sure what my order was on previous posting, and I don't feel like going back and hunting for it. I will say that, in the last year-and-change, GFW has moved up a little bit in my estimation, so that now Tokyo SOS is definitively lock in to my bottom spot. For all the problems I have with it, GFW is at least overflowing with bizarre and audacious elements, whereas Tokyo SOS is just incapable of holding my attention.

I'm kicking around switching my #3 and #4. I've always ranked the first three Millennium flicks about the back three, with a pretty wide gap between the two halves, but on last viewing the gap between Megaguirus (in third place) and Mechagodzilla (in fourth) narrowed considerably. Megaguirus doesn't really have much repeat watch value (I mostly like it for three or four cool moments), and Mechagodzilla, while it still strikes me as very bland, doesn't seem as cursory in its human drama as I used to find it. So, it may be edging Megaguirus out of the #3 spot. I dunno.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Of course, the only one on the list I have no real love for is Tokyo SOS. Godzilla films can be serious, campy, scary, or fun... The one thing I don't like is when they seem bland....

There are some great moments in all of these movies, but otherwise I don't think highly of these at all.

New list with ratings:

1. GMK (2.5/4) [Maybe 3/4 if I'm feeling especially generous.]
Tie-2. Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2/4)
Tie-2. Godzilla 2000 (2/4)
4. Godzilla Tokyo SOS (1.5/4)
Tie-5. Godzilla Final Wars (1/4)
Tie-5. Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (1/4)

I could flip Mechagodzilla and 2000 or Final Wars and Megaguirus depending on my mood. The only ones locked in place are GMK (because it's easily the best of this group) and Tokyo SOS (because it's bad - but not more so than GFW and GXM).
