I'm still curious as to why people even want an American Gamera film? It's a concept that is so inherently Japanese that any American film would more than likely water down the elements that make Gamera unique in the first place.
IF Pixar, or Disney or Dreamworks got behind a Gamera project I could MAYBE keep an open mind about it...but it just feels pointless. Let sleeping dogs lie for a while. Even the Hesei trilogy wasn't really a massive box office draw in Japan. If we get into another kaiju boom where kaiju are as popular as super heroes at the box office I'm sure someone will make a Gamera film but there simply hasn't been a wave of successful kaiju films in forever. Even if Godzilla is successful, I don't think that will be enough to resurrect Gamera anytime soon with the lukewarm reactions to Pac Rim, King Kong and even the recent Ultraman films in Japan.
And let's not forget we already have a dark, gritty reboot of Gamera...the Hesei trilogy which is perfect if that's the direction you want to take Gamera. I really think, if there's ever another Gamera film it needs to be children friendly and somewhat in the style of Gamera the Brave or a Showa film.
