So a friend of mine just brought me the making-of book that was released in conjunction with the exhibit the film was produced for.

Sweet Mother of God. I am positively tumescent every time I look through it. So many crazy yet simple and effective techniques that I absolutely must try out for our upcoming shorts. This and the extensive exhibit program have been in my possession for only a couple of days and they are already amongst the most brilliant gems of my tokusatsu book collection.

Any official word if this will be attached to the North American disc? I loved this short. It was simply amazing. It's great to see that these types of fx are being kept alive even if they're no longer the mainstream fx being used. Hopefully they'll continue to make shorts like this, Gehara, and occassional features like the Ultraman films. There's atleast 2 new daikaiju/tokusatsu films on the horizon that I know of but I'd love to see more solo kaiju efforts like "G" or "Demeking". I'd love for "Pacific Rim" and "Godzilla" to inspire more filmmakers to get behind these types of films.

... didn't Haguchi say that scenes of flight in Miyazaki's movies were his inspiration when making Gamera: Guardian of the Universe?
