As far as approach goes, what are everyone's thoughts about the new movie being another origin movie, like GINO, or effectively being a sequel to the original movie, the approach used for Godzilla 1985 and most of the Millenium movies.

I figure that the idea has been discussed sometime over the last two years, but since we have a real reason to discuss the new movie again it seems an appropriate time to bring the concept up.

It could be I'm just getting tired of origin movies in general, due to Hollywood's reliance on them for superhero movies, that I don't think I want to see the new movie be a retread Godzilla's origin.

If anything just a few minutes to quickly summerize Godzilla's origin in the beginning, pretty much the approach that was used for 1996 Phantom movie. Maybe frame the background piece as part of an orientation video for incoming operatives/agents or employees for an organization that has a significant presence in the movie.

Edwards will have many more options for the story if he is able to begin the movie with Godzilla (and by extension other kaiju) as an established presence in the world.
