Okay, one more post about something I really want to see and then I'll talk more about stuff I've actually gotten to loo through!
AUGH, I NEED THIS SO BAD.
Decisive Battle! The Ultra Brothers:
I've been coveting this tome for some time now. It's a collection of some 530 pages of Ultraman stories, all drawn by artist Shinji Imura. I know very little about him, just that his art looks most excellent. All of the stories were serialized in the late 70s and 80s. Don't know much about them except their titles:
• Decisive Battle! The Ultra Brothers
• The Great Ultra Monster War
• Fight! Space Garrison
• Famicom Ultraman: The Kaiju Empire's Counterattack
• Ultra Seven: King Zetton's Revenge
• Famicom Ultraman 2: Ultra Monster's Great Decisive Battle
The two "Famicon Ultraman" stories are apparently adaptations of Ultraman games for the original NES.
Here are the few interior images I could find:
Best I can tell from this image is there's been a battle between Baltan and Mephilas, which is then crashed by Hippolito, who sneak attacks Baltan and destroys him, except it was just a copy and Baltan starts screwing around with Hippolito. Love it.
CYBORG ZETTON. D8
There's another collection by the same artist that I'm slightly less interested in but I would still love to get my mitts on because I'm loving what I've seen of his art. Like Ultraman the First, it's a little cartoony but still very clean with wickedly-drawn monsters.
Ultraman 80: The Great Space War/The☆Ultraman/Ultra Seven:
This is also another 500+ page tome, this time covering primarily Imura-penned stories of Ultraman 80 and Ultraman Jonias (The☆Ultraman), with some Seven stories thrown in for good measure. These are also late 70s/80s serials. Here are the story titles:
• The☆Ultraman
• Ultraman 80
• Ultraman 80: The Great Space War
• Ultra Seven: The Four-Hundred Year Revenge
• The Forty Thousand Year Silence
Jesus, these titles are AWESOME. Here are the interiors I've found for this book:
Yeah, so if anyone knows anything else about these books - if you can provide more images or simply recommend them, I would be much obliged! They look amazing and I'm fully prepared to drop $50 on one of them if they're as good as they look!
