As for soundtrack....god, I have no idea. Maybe I am getting old, but I have no clue who the "hot" composer is these days. Everyone seems high on the Cloverfield composer (I saw Cloverfield, but don't remember much about the music...maybe that's not a good sign).
It's a shame John Barry is old and basically retired....I always wondered what Barry with do with some of Ifukube's work.
As far as director goes...
I don't know, I have lived abroad in Japan for 4 years, and I don't keep up with "Hollywood" news that much, so I don't know who is right to direct this flick. Godzilla is not an easy topic to "match" a director to. I will say who I don't want to see direct it:
- Tim Burton....just saw Alice in Wonderland yesterday....good god, what an unmitigate mess :puke: One of the most overrated directors in Hollywood today. AIW was actually worse than his Planet of the Apes/Willy Wonka remakes.
- Michael Bay...good god, possibly the only option that would be just as bad as D&E :th-dn: :puke:
- Uwe Boll (I spoke too soon...Bay, you've got company)
- Paul Anderson...the BAD one....*shudder*. I have to give him credit, it takes alot of talent to screw up two franchises (Aliens and Predator) at the same time.
- Tarentino....I echo Legion's sentiments, I am soooo tired of hearing his name mentioned with every G rumor. I like his work, but this ain't happening, and I'm not sure if G and QT are a good match...QT has never really done anythin SciFi to suggest this would be ideal).
- Brett Ratner - No comment necessary
- Devlin and Emmerich (of course).
As long as it's no one from the above list, then there may be some hope that this could be something decent...
