Yeah I'm not a big Gappa man myself. I don't really like Gamera because he's on the B-list though I can see where you're coming from. I like a nice obscure kaiju movie as much as the next guy.

My thought is Gamera is the ultimate defensive monster while Godzilla is the ultimate offensive monster. One never quits, the other never stops. The 'ol immovable object and irresistable force, if you will.

But yeah, some Gamera pics would be nice :D

Well put..plus..Gamera is a childish bafoon who just happens to be a bad a$$ half of the time (and a dumb a$$ the other half, going by the showa series that is) whereas Godzilla is the ultimate in stoic, rage induced vengance...ones more of a Vash the Stampede type while the other is more like Wolverine...would be a nice buddy comedy movie I think...lol

Or better yet, a road movie! Remake Thelma and Louise, but with Godzilla and Gamera instead!

Granted, the ending would have to be changed a bit...I don't the grand canyon would be big enough.

Yah plus if Thelma could fly by shooting fire from her a$$ they might have had a change of heart half way through the fall...thus...franchise potential!!! Sequels baby!

What was so hard about giving Kong feet that didn't look like badly burnt and deformed loafers?

And now, for a round of "Aww man, that poor suit."

The '66 Sea Monster suit close the end of filming after being used extensively in the water:

The '68 suit as seen in Godzilla vs Hedora. Can you believe they used this thing in another film?

And here's how it looked in Godzilla vs Gigan. Yuck, look at those legs and feet.

Yeah, the "Monster Zero" suit was one of my favorites in its debut picture, but seeing it after being cannibalized and then reconstructed to undergo another full movie shoot, it just makes me feel sorry for it. Didn't look too great in the three remaining movies where they used it as a "water suit" either.

But this is certainly a terrific thread. Thanks for sharing these!

These aren't my scans (I believe Baradagi gets that credit) and they were posted elsewhere on this site several years ago, but it seems a good a time as any to post them again...

His internal skull was ripped out and used as a base on which the flying Hedora model was built around.

Funny how the longer the suits sit around and decay, the more the look like the DIY jobs for the G Fest costume contests

darn legion, I have the book those decaying pics came from & that was going to be my contribution to this thread! :P Oh well, those are far better scans than I could've posted. I've only got a couple of books on Godzilla, but i'll dig around & see if i can't find something interesting over the next few days...

Muchas gracias on the G '91 pics Legion. I'd say that's far and away my favorite version of the suit.

It seems like the feral, almost catlike look adopted in the GvBio has become the quintessential version of Godzilla (Trendmasters toys, Dark Horse Comics, etc.) and the G'91 suit was far and away the best realization of that idea, before Toho went all "maternal" on us in GvMGII...ugh.

The sight of all of those suits in the photos just reminds us all about the the fact that these suits get put to the shredder and then once done, they decay even faster.

Excellent find that you have here.
