My favorite Showa series film, after Godzilla[the uncut Japanese version] would probably be Monster Zero. I love Nick Adams " enthusiastic" performance. As for Terror of MechaGodzilla, I reserve judgement until I can find the original uncut release. The current versions available on home video are just to butchered to be enjoyed. Especially since I was fortunate enough to see the uncut stateside release when it was on TV back in 1980[I think]. When[and if] this version becomes available, then I'll formulate more of an opinion.

The best Showa Movie in the Godzilla series is of course, G54, the movie really moved me and actualy made me feel the fear that the pople were going through, the movie also has disturbing scenes, (Like the mother holding her children, telling them that they are going to be with there father soon.) The best thing about the movie is the message, Godzilla represented the Evil of Man (or I guess the H-Bomb). Best Kaiju Movie IMO.

The original is definitely the best, IMO. Either G54 or GKoM, doesn't matter. I consider them both to be the same story told from two different perspectives.

Other than that, my favorite Showa era Godzilla movie would probably be KKvG. I know it was cheesy in a lot of ways, but it was the first Goji movie I ever saw in a theater, when I was 8. Like China said, even the Godzilla movies that aren't really "good" are still fun. The only Godzilla movie I've never seen is Hedorah/Smog Monster.

BTW, I got a good deal on the showa MechaG movies. GvMG was given to me by a friend about two years ago. I found ToMG in a grocery store discount bin for $2 about four years ago.

The best is the original 54 film, IMO.

Best Showa sequel is Godzilla vs The Thing, IMO.
