OK. I can finally talk about another "millenium" film.
I finally saw this one yesterday. And i've got to say first off, i guess i was stupid because i completely forgot there was a vMEC4 before this one to reference this newer one. I didn't get the wound thing on Godzilla, i didn't get the "it's outta control again" thing on MechaG, i didn't get the damage thing on MechaG. See, i foolishly thought that the last vMEC to reference was 1993's film.
Anyway... So what
IS the deal with this wound thing? What a hunk of hot garbage. Didn't we already prove in...let's see... about ALL the previous Godzilla films that his cells regenerate at an incredible speed? That aspect was gay.
Why the hell did Mothra fight Godzilla anyway? She said she wouldn't do it if the humans used MechaG. She have a change of heart? WHY?? Somebody bleepin' tell me WHY!? If i didn't hate Mothra enough before, i hate it even more now.
Oh, and on that note - how many times does it take these goofy people to realize these are THE SAME monsters? Who writes this tripe? What was that line by the prime minister?... "I guess that really was Mothra..." or something to that effect.
Huh? What did you think was the giant moth looking thing? A giant MOTH? You coulda got
that by default. It reminded me of that line from GMK... "Maybe we should name the monsters..." Dude. They have names. You've seen them umpteen damn times, save Baragon. Did you just land on this planet?
And i'm not even going to bother wasting a paragraph on how utterly ri-GD-diculous it was to even CONSIDER giving partial sentience to MechaG. That was MechaGay.
Glowing amber/gold eyes?
His scales were like
perfectly symmetrical. OK, so THIS Godzilla was fabricated..
And again on that note - just what in great gracious did the prime minister (?) mean by "this Godzilla"? How does he know there's multiples? And why does he bother to elaborate on that? No other person in the history of Toho Godzilla-dom has ever done so before. AND if that really is the case (even in Toho-land), why don't they differentiate so us, the commoners, can tell that Toho-landers consider there to be different ones? Godzilla the XIVth, or something. That would be cool.
Oh JEEBUS this movie was gay on so many levels. And yet, of practically all the kaiju i've seen this one actually had the best 'feel' of a real movie of any of them. At least to me. The story seemed plausible and well blended. The characters' interaction (for the most part) seemed well executed. The score flowed with the action and set the tempo quite smartly.
I jus' dunno. Somebody help me here!
