GODZILLA 2000 Production Notes

Postby kpa » Sat Sep 08, 2012 4:07 am

Since GODZILLA 2000 is airing today on the Sony Movie Channel, SciFi Japan thought it would be fun to look back at Sony's production notes for the film's US theatrical release...

I had gotten out of the loop with Godzilla when this movie came out (I had just discovered anime and that was blowing my mind for a while). I was backstage at a musical I was a part of and saw a kid reading a video game magazine and on the back saw the ad (with the awesome movie poster) on the back. I got a closer look and that was pretty much the moment I came back (having lost some enthusiasm after completing my movie collection with Destroy All Monsters only a year or so prior) permanently to the Godzilla fandom.

Just going to add that Orga has to be the dumbest (as in intelligence level, not as in design) monster in Godzilla movie history, except for possibly Gigan.

G2K is sadly the only Godzilla movie I ever got to see on the big screen.

Well, I think G2k (especially with the campy/fun American dub and improved cutting) was a pretty enjoyable experience. Though I am thankful I got to see other films on the big screen later on.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Orga is the dumbest monster...Megalon would be my other choice, though rather than Gigan.

Though I think between the three of them, they are the dumbest monsters. Especially FW Gigan.

Final Wars is why I have Gigan being dumber than Megalon.

Understandable. Though I think Megalon acts pretty stupid himself in GvsMegalon.

i think the only 'dumb' think FW gigan really does is the whole cutting off his own head thing...it is a REALLY dumb move, but i think Megalon shows a little bit more ineptitude in the intelligence department overall...

I think Megalon clearly beats Gigan and Orga in the lack of smarts department. His temper tantrums and lack of creativity made me laugh as a kid
