Re: TALKBACK #28: Godzilla Final Wars

Don Frye in Final Wars is like Arnold in Commando: not really acting, but somehow exuding charisma through his stilted line readings.
THE place to discuss Godzilla, giant monsters & Japanese sci-fi and horror in a cordial and friendly atmosphere!

BRETT HOMENICK wrote:Yoshikazu Ishii grew up a kaiju fan in Japan and eventually got to live the dream of working on Godzilla films and directing special effects on a variety of tokusatsu projects. But how did the dream become reality? In July 2005, Brett Homenick and J. D. Lees interviewed Mr. Ishii about his fascinating journey. Translation for this interview was handled by Robert Field.
A huge, fast moving monster with an iguana-like appearance, Zilla’s origins and identity are unknown, although it is said to resemble a creature that attacked New York City in 1997. It consumes massive quantities of fish and its primary weapons are simple brute force and a high jump kick. After attacking Sydney, Australia, the X-Star aliens send it to attack Godzilla as a test. Although Zilla can easily out-jump Godzilla, it is no match in a real fight, and once it is knocked down it falls easily in defeat.
