Whenever I walk through my local Premiere's Video I peruse the sci-fi section and look at the Godzilla titles. Of the five or six DVDs they have, usually about half of them are out.

I don't have much left to say about Final Wars. Its only remotely impressive quality is that it somehow manages to simultaneously be brain-meltingly over-kinetic and nigh unwatchably boring.

This is one of those guilty pleasures, where you know it's asinine but you can't help but enjoy yourself while all this ludicrous silliness unspools on the screen. But then again Godzilla Vs. Gigan is one of my favorites of the old series, so you probably shouldn't ask me.
Interesting note: I showed this movie to my father shortly before he died (he was 88), and when Minya showed up at the end to stop Godzilla from frying the people, he almost choked on his drink and exclaimed "Jesus!"
A scene so corny its actually shocking.

The movie is downright awful.
And yet, unlike the two Godzilla movies before it, I can't say that I feel as if I've seen it several times before. That, and I've honestly come to enjoy it for being so terrible. That's all I've got to say in defense of it.
It's too bad that another Godzilla movie like this is so unlikely. The story premise behind it was cool and I rather like that Godzilla's final film was to celebrate all his movies and bring back monsters that haven't been seen in decades. If only it were executed better...

yes, i love this movie for the same reason i love Godzilla vs. Megalon, Godzilla vs. Gigan, and (to a lesser extent) Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah.
it's goofy, inventive, balls-out FUN.
i would LOVE LOVE this movie if it was twenty minutes shorter...
