Just so everyone knows, Keith Aiken confirmed a while back that Toho's subtitled print of TOKYO SOS feature the exact same subs. He also said that Sony used whatever was provided to them from Toho, meaning they're the ones to blame for all of the "dubtitles" on some of Sony's releases (MECHAGODZILLA '93, MEGAGUIRUS, GMK, TOKYO SOS). This includes the "hybrid" subs seen on the Showa releases.
Why Toho didn't provide the subs from their subtitled print of GMK is strange, to say the least. They're much better.
TOKYO SOS was one of those cases where using Toho's "official" subs was a bad idea. It's a shame, because the subs for GODZILLA X MECHAGODZILLA are much better. I'm not sure, since I don't speak Japanese, but I've heard the subs for FINAL WARS are also quite good.

That's interesting...though I mean...Godzilla Legends Issue 1 specifically has flashbacks to what looks like Godzilla vs. Gigan, and some other Showa films. Though that's in the art and probably not in the script itself.
