I liked that this one tried some original ideas, and it also had a pretty good score. I also got a kick out of the intro showing the 2000 Godzilla suit digitally inserted into the clips from the original film.

Beyond that...it doesn't do much for me.

The scenes with the non-or barely-flapping wings always get to me, yuck... but otherwise I like this the best of the Tezuka movies. It's at least fairly original.

I haven't seen it since it first came out so should probably re-watch it.

This film really does look like a Sci-Fi channel production. It pales in comparison to the previous film!

I had never hated a Godzilla movie in my life until I initially saw this one. Granted, even then, I didn't actually hate, but was just SO disappointed in it. From news coming out during it's production in 2000, it sounded like a very promising follow-up. Nope.

The characters are far less interesting and the story seems to drag and the pacing is haphazard.

Since it's DVD release, I've tried to avoid this one. But the last couple years I've wanted to love it more; so I watched it a number of times.

It's now beginning to grow on me, but it's still not spectacular. The acting is dull and the Megaguirus prop is very disappointing in its execution. Too damn stiff.

While I'm happy I don't "hate" the film anymore, I still don't find it to be anything really exciting.

I honestly tried to like it before, but it's become one of the only two Godzilla movies I can actually say that I hate.

I've seen some comments (not necessarily on this board) saying that it's a fun throwback to the '70s films, but I honestly never got that feeling. I get the same feeling from this movie as when I watch Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla: an incredibly lazy, by-the-numbers plot with hit-and-miss special effects and a weak human cast. But Megaguirus herself is cool and I really do like the music, even if it's done a lot better in the Kiryu movies. I'd prefer it over Space Godzilla because of the music and Megagurius herself, but it's still one of my least favorite Godzilla movies.

This movie really is terrible. Sitting through it dubbed at G-Fest this year was quite painful, actually. On top of already having terribly uninteresting characters, you have (like MFW mentioned) probably the worst SPX in a Toho film since MEGALON. They really are that bad. A decade later, I'm still taken back by how poorly done they were. MEGALON has an excuse..this film doesn't, and it's just down right embarrassing to watch.

It's unbearably boring AND terribly soap opera-esque. Just a really bad movie in every respect.

It does have a few cool scenes. The 1954 intro, Tsujimori riding Godzilla and the entire fight with Megaguirus. It's too bad the rest of the film is so stunningly godawful.

I think GODZILLA X MEGAGUIRUS could have benefited immensely from emphasizing the latent horror elements in the Meganulon, Meganulas and Megaguirus.

The designs themselves lent themselves to this kind of use and execution. With these creatures from the past terrorizing Tokyo, the only thing needed to make the horror complete would be a vicious, evil, bent-on-destruction Godzilla. The Gira-Goji design, with some tweaking around the eyes, and the right direction, could have helped to place a sense of real peril into the story.

I would like to have seen the Meganulon, Meganula and finally, Megaguirus engaged in constant, ongoing attacks. My GXM would be very graphic.

That the horror and destruction of creatures from the past was the direct result of a futuristic weapon, designed and deployed to destroy Godzilla, would be most ironic. A element of the story could have been devoted to the political consequences of the use of the Dimension Tide. I mean, someone would have to be held responsible, which means that someone would have to be 'sacrificed.' If written well and with some imagination, the intrigue and suspense of this part of the story could have been interesting. People in power will often do anything (to anyone) to stay in power (and avoid prosecution). This could have mirrored the viciousness of the attacks by the Meganulon, Meganula and, finally, Megaguirus.

And then, Godzilla reappears. Anti-hero or the Finisher? Maybe, GXM, like this, doesn't have a happy ending.
