Still love it. Yeah it's uneven overall, the music is pretty bad, and the Star Wars/Matrix/X-Men rip-offs still hurt, but...
...it's just so much damn fun. The energy in this movie is just through the roof. I feel like they finally managed to do something different with Godzilla, but without straying too far from what makes Godzilla awesome. I think knowing that the director loves the 70s G flicks really helps put everything in perspective too. Final Wars is just a big campy modern love letter to the latter half of the Showa series, and I love it for that reason.
Also, this movie marks the first time I not only tolerated Minya, but actually enjoyed him (outside of Godzilla's Acid Trip Revenge, of course).
This is potentially my favorite portrayal of Godzilla as well... I love the suit, and I love that he's a huge, unstoppable, murderous, rage-filled bad-ass, that can literally never forget old grudges (hence why he stalks the Gotengo).
Also, Don Frye. BOOYAH
Would I liked to have spent more time with the monsters? Of course, but you know what? It was worth it to see some old favorites like Anguirus, Hedorah and King Caesar... outside of Final Wars, who knows if we'll ever see these guys again?
So yeah, Final Wars has its fair share of problems, but the things it does well I really do love.
