Monster Zero x SciFi Japan - Archive Only

My take is that Godzilla must evolve in a profound way that affects people. One thing that I realized while watching "Dead Man's Chest" is that if moviegoers are not "moved" one way or another by the story or characters, it's time to give it up. The film I just spoke of was extremely fun and the characters were memorable. I think we all can agree Godzilla is a character that will never be forgotten but the people at Toho and Sony/Tri-Star forgot what it was that made him so popular. Godzilla was the voice of redemption that forced people to realize unforeseen consequences of their actions and later on, the right to survive. That's why we've always routed for him.

I'm serious though. The human interaction, and the emotional investment, as such, is just as central as Godzy himself in these movies. And like Godzilla, remains as a constant.

Since you can't just have an ALL Godzilla movie and since we rely on these characterizations to move things and explain things (does anybody really want to hear monster talk again!??), I feel that SO MUCH MORE could be accomplished if more thought was invested in the human drama... NOT more screen time, more debth and complexity maybe. I'm sick of the 2 dimensional stuff
