[color=darkblue]Well, they're already saving money on extras. I truly hope these savings are being put to good use.
Before I wrote this I was watching, and being mesmerized, by disc 2 of the 3-disc R2 release of GODZILLA, MOTHRA, KING GHIDORAH: GIANT MONSTRS ALL-OUT ATTACK. This is the disc with all of the behind-the-scenes footage, including comparisons between the scenes as they are being filmed and the finished product. The juxtaposing of the two as well as the interaction between the actors, the crew and the directors gives one a heightened appreciation of this fantastic genre. To see the actors and crew so hard at work, and then being able to admire the finished product (which, in the case of GMK, is great) is a great treat. I have always felt that kaiju eiga as an art form would be more appreciated if people on this side of the Pacific could see the craftsmanship, care and diligence of the people who give some much of themselves to make these films.
For this and other reasons, I love these “extras.â€
“Godzilla is a force. He is not something that can be stopped by human weapons. He is brutal and severe. My Godzilla will be the cruelest and fiercest in the history of the series.â€
