I loved him in "They Live" and the recent "Legends House" program. I got to meet him last year at a convention... he was a very happy, upbeat man. Very sorry to see him go.

Not sure how to embed a Youtube video, but this one says it all for Hot Rod:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlxC4ZHo0LMYou did it your way, Roddy. One of the few wrestlers whose passing actually affects me emotionally.

Verne, Dusty, now Roddy. This is pretty much the worst year for wrestling legends ever.
I got to meet him at the 2011 Cauliflower Alley Club. He was on hand to present an award to Sgt. Slaughter, and his speech was the best I'd seen him do in a long time. After the event, he moved to one side of the room to chat with his old friend "Judo" Gene LeBell, and it was quite lovely to see the bond between these two old grapplers. After ten minutes, Piper hugged LeBell goodbye, came over to those of us who wanted photos and autographs, and chose me first because I'd been waiting for so long.
RIP Hot Rod. The big battle royal in the sky just got a whole lot Rowdier.
