Simpsons Treehouse of Horror
12
Hex and the City - well, it's got its moments. i like how lenny and carl and moe are included in an organic way. any time the segment feels like an episode of the show proper where just something whacky happens, it works for me.
House of Whacks - okay, i find it funny. lots of great moments, and the 2001 thing works for me.
Whiz Kids - I hate it. The premise-heavy segments are typically some of the worst, especially when they make no effort to incorporate the premise into a "regular day" for the simpsons. there's one decent part, with the vomit-spewing frogmanmonster, but ugh.
^Overall a pretty bad Treehouse of Horror. House of Whacks is solid, but the other two leave a LOT to be desired, and Whiz Kids is probably my least favorite segment of the first 12 Treehouses.

Send in the Clones - it's funny. i love when there are all the homers and some are old-school drawn, there's the uber obese one, the Peter Griffin. Funny stuff.
The Fright to Creep and Scare Harms - it's...okay...i mean, there are a couple of decent moments at the beginning and the end, but the premise itself is the real problem here. at least it doesn't solely rely on its premise, with a lot of the best jokes being about time travel despite that not being the point of the segment.
The Island of Dr. Hibbert - another solid segment.
^This one felt like (at the time) that it was a bit of a return to form. That after a mediocre 13th season, and some decline in quality during seasons 10,11 and 12 (though I still like them) that season 14 would be a return to The Simpsons being good on a weekly basis. I don't remember much about the rest of season 14, but that probably goes to show how incorrect that assessment was and if we look on to the next treehouse...

Reaper Madness - not a bad way to start out an episode, but its best moments are when there is no more death, and that is too short-lived.
Frinkenstein - ugh, i HATE this segment. i can remember being excited about it, when i first heard about it. Frink was becoming a hilarious character on the show over the seasons, and a Frink-centrix episode seemed like it'd be great. This episode's plot makes no sense and its jokes suck.
Stop the World, I Want to Goof Off - another blegh segment. it has a couple of decent moments here and there, but lacks overall.
^Talk about a nose-dive and the relative end of the Treehouse series. I'm sure there are other good segments and maybe even episodes over the next 10 remaining, but this was the point at which not even the Treehouse of Horror could be relied upon anymore. I can pinpoint the moment I stopped being a SUPER FAN of the Simpsons, and this was it. it's passable, and i remember a year where Fran Drescher guest-starred in a Jewish Golem segment and there was also a terrible War of the Worlds segment that was WAY worse and one of the flat-out worst episodes of The Simpsons period, but this is still not a good episode of the series overall.
