The Sh*tty Day thread

For some reason I had to work from 11 am till a bit after 11 pm.
I am now a merchandiser at Fry's, and we don't get anything on trucks that day.
So basically I wander around stocking stuff & making signs.

Of course they also want us to help with ringing up people if they get a line.
The only problem with that is they now seem to refuse to do an announcement over the intercom, and instead do a Wallis talkie one.
Which nobody ever says "you need a walkie".
So when they do the anouncement, almost every time they put my register drawer in the safe.
By the time I get it out, and get to an open register, the line is gone.

Yet, they get pissed at me for not coming up to the registers...
Not to mention there was NOBODY in charge of the merch team, so guess who they put in charge...yep, me.

Let's just say I was not a happy camper, and will be discussing this with my manager.

It's hard for me to speak to the divides between Americans, but I hope you'll all do your best to look after each other and talk to each other, whichever way the winds might blow. Understanding alone can help to overcome all kinds of barriers.

You're right to enforce the rules, of course. It's a shame we can't have one quarantined section of the site to discuss politics in a civilized manner. There were some good posts in there. But I guess politics rarely stays civil on the internet...

Trying to get myself in my right mind. Walked around in a daze today, and probably spooked the hell out of everyone who saw me (a lot of concerned looks and "are you okay?").

I got about 2 hours of sleep last night. I tried to get a decent amount of sleep because I knew I had to be up early today but just couldn't and when I finally did fall asleep I was awoken two hours later by my dog.

Oh well at least I got a new PC chair (DXracer Sentinel) and my new phone came in today.

During my wedding reception, I felt like my heart was racing. I figured it was excitement and love. Turns out I had an atrial flutter. Long story short my new congenital cardiologist wants to crack me open again and fiddle with my ticker. Which is scary enough as it is but I worry that I may not have my job/insurance by that time. I'm not meeting the coding production minims. Two and a half minutes per chart is not enough. Especially since I have stopped drinking my cup of coffee at work to try and help me wake up and focus (and may have helped cause the flutter)

But today I went with the wife to the doctor's to try and see what they could do about her bloating and nausea. The options she was given was a drug that gave a less than 20% chance of doing anything with nausea side effects or hospice care. She's leaning towards hospice. So it looks like we won't be making our Disney honeymoon vacation in February.

So today has been nothing but crying and napping.

Again I am questioning why I keep doing this retail crap.
Yet again corporate greed is forcing everybody to work on (what I thought) a National Holiday.
Yep, our store is open on Thanksgiving from 5 PM till 11 PM.
I asked to work as late as possible, but there was only 3 options.
4 PM, 4:30 PM, and 5 PM.
So I will have Thanksgiving dinner at about late lunch time (around 3).

No clue where to even start thinking about looking for someplace better that's not open on that day.
Of course I also asked to work as early as possible on Christmas Eve, we will see how that goes...

Kinda surprised they haven't got the bright idea to be open Christmas Day...but if they do that will be the last straw for many an employee...

Wife took a spill today, nothing broken but Hospice came by with a hospital bed and commode. Said things were winding down with her. The "Hours, Days, Weeks" stretch but they didn't think it'd be weeks. I don't have FMLA until January. I don't want to go to work. I'll just be in my cubicle crying.

And things have winded down. My boss told me to take all the time I need. I think her mom wants to fight about the funeral arrangements, but unless she's going to foot the bill for a casket and all that entails, I'm going to follow my wife's wishes and get her cremated.

XvGojira, my heartfelt condolences goes out to you my man. I'm so very sorry about the passing of your wife because of that horrible disease cancer. I know exactly how you feel. I lost my wife to lung cancer just a year ago last December. Losing a loved one is never easy, but losing a spouse, particularly a husband losing a wife, can be really heart wrenching. The first year will be the absolute toughest. Anything and everything will remind you of her, but stay strong and as positive as you can be. This year has been extremely tough for me. I sometimes feel like I'm no better than what I was a year ago. And at times, I feel very lost. Most people have no idea how much control a wife has over there husbands lives. And when she is gone, we're like newborn pups without its mother. There are lots and lots of reading material here on the internet about grieving and husbands losing wives, etc,. What I have read has helped some so far. I recommend the same for you. The grieving process will not be an easy one. But with inner strength, and much help from the Lord himself, you will get through this over time. If you ever have any questions, do not hesitate to pm me. Stay strong my friend, and always remember that, even though her suffering is over, and she's in a much better place, she also will never be far from you. Prayers and Peace my man.

My OCD recently conflated with a crisis of faith, sending me into something of a spiral. I can still function, but work is utter agony, and I've had several family members confront me concerned that I'm suicidal and worried about my mental health. I've been two psychologists so far, seeing a new psychiatrist in about a week. Been on some new medication which is unfortunately not working like I'd hoped. I am NOT in a good place right now, and not hanging in there.

^Stay strong buddy. Do whatever it takes to get well. Sorry to hear about the crisis of faith, thing. I haven't been religious since I was 14 or so, but I understand how important a part of life it can be for people.
