not so much for myself, but just a crazy thing I saw. Went to lunch yesterday and was driving on a freeway overpass, and saw some guy straddling the chain link fence, looking like he was contemplating if he should jump or not. It was odd because nobody else was there, but then as the signal turned green several police arrived on site. I went through a drive through and on my way back to work had to pass the same overpass. Of course traffic was all backed up, but it appears they got the guy off the fence (or at least I assume so, since the freeway below had normal traffic flow). I mean I have no idea why this guy was up there, or how bad he was hurting, but nothing NO situation is worth taking your own life, ever.

Well YouTube has just pulled in a new low. My ad revenue has been steadily decreasing daily for the last month despite obtaining over 100 new subscribers in that time and putting out many videos. Last month I was at $79 in revenue and now I'm at $41. Turns out it's all thanks to YouTube's new Premium service. People pay them a monthly subscription to watch videos without commercials and that's it. YouTube gets their money so they can watch commercials ad free and we don't make a cent because there are no ads playing on our videos. -_-

Damn, I just found out that one of my former customers from when I worked at Best Buy died this morning. I only got to talk to him a few times since I left, and he never returned the message I sent him a couple of week's ago. That sucks. He would have been 50 next year.

I just got my first Copyright Strike because YouTube doesn't understand what the flying "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" a panel at an anime convention is. -_- I "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" hate how "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" they are when it comes to these things. Do these people even watch the videos they give strikes to? It's got people on screen talking about what they are going to show, it's got voices all around a big room, there's a projector, and there's a giant screen, DUH, it must be a recording from a presentation. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. So now I had waste my time typing up an entire explanation on what a panel is and how my video is covered under Fair Use because they are too dumb to understand.

Today has just been really "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!". I got called into the office over an incident I wasn't really involved with. Then just had a long day at work. Finally the worst part of the day happened when I checked my phone to see a text message from my sister telling me my mother's puppy was in an accident and didn't survive. She was only 8 months old. So I rushed home from work and found my mom crying and stuff and then I started to sob.

"OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" this month, "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" this entire year.

Not sure what to do anymore.
I got a talking to about my "attitude" and lack of "customer service".
Excuse me for being a bit grumpy after closing the night before & having to come in at 9 AM.
Not eating properly, and then everything goes to hell (and nobody wants to help).

So I literally exploded and said some choice words very loudly that customers heard.
Been working at this place for 7 years, and have been doing this stuff for well over 20 years by now.
I didn't get fired, just asked if I wanted to keep my job position.

Not sure what else I could do in the store.
Been a cashier, a merchandiser, a salesperson, and now a telephone operator.

I don't mind getting the items that people order through our store pickup system, but trying to deal with completely stupid people on the phone grinds my gears.
I'm like why is it that I have a crappy job, when I can figure out stuff that people that make (most likely) 10x greater $ can't?
Not to mention certain departments in our store never want to answer the phone.

Receiving might be an option if it wasn't so darn hot/cold back there (there's no AC/Heat in that area.

Not sure where to even start thinking about where else to try to get a job.
Most places only seem to want part-time & even though the pay might be slightly better, I need at least $1100 a month to afford living. I live with my parents who I pay rent to, plus car payment, student loan, and so forth.

I seem to keep falling into this pattern, where I work someplace for a while, and my so called "lack" of interest/customer service seems to rear its head.
I guess maybe I think these people are wasting my time, but I do try to help them.
Sure I might not seem happy about my job, but quite honestly anybody who is happy in retail has to be on some serious drugs...

Well now...

My dad called me an hour ago to tell me my cousin died from a drug overdose on Monday. Also, my grandma has been extremely sick and may not see the end of the year. Oh, and my aunt has been quite sick to and the death of my cousin hasn't helped. My step-grandma has also been quite sick to. Now granted, my two grandmas are 90 and 88, so that is to be expected, but damn, to be told all of this at one time.

Not sure how I feel about my cousin right now. I mean, it sucks, especially since we were close when we were kids, but we kind of drift apart and I haven't seen him in 20 years.

I managed to snag a pair of the limited edition Vegeta sneakers that came out through Adidas and my 3-year old drew all over them in Sharpie.

If you hear of a Texas man who offed his kids, that was me.

The UPS man didn’t even try to deliver my new laptop yesterday like he was supposed to. He just slapped the “attempted delivery” notice on the door and ran. My wife was home ready to sign for the package and when she realized what happened she tried to track him down. But by the time UPS returned her calls (an hour later...) they said he was too far away to come back. Now I have to wait until Monday afternoon (three extra days) before I can go out of my way to drive to them and pick up my package. >:-|

I know it’s not really that big a deal in the grand scheme of things but I’ve been waiting to buy that new laptop for YEARS and I had very specific plans to do a quick project this weekend so I could do something special with the kids early next week and now I’m gonna be in a time crunch to get it done in time. Stupid UPS. >:-|

This isn't a "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" moment for me, but I'm just posting it because one of my friends work just voted to go on strike (King Soopers), which he is upset about for obvious reasons on his personal side. Of course, the biggest shocker is KS' lawyer's comment when he walked into the negotiation room the other day. He walked to the table, said, "I don't understand what the issue is. You only work 40 hours a week, so you don't deserve a livable wage," and then he walked out. Naturally, the heads of King Soopers are flabbergasted that 92% of the employees voted to go on strike.

Ugh, labor lawyers and the upper management who hire them are absolute scum. The worst of the worst when it comes to your average group of daily law-abiding* citizens. I work in a unionized industry and we recently finished a very bitter, years-long battle for a new contract. The tricks management and their lawyers used should be criminal, but they were allowed to get away with ludicrous behavior towards their employees. I feel your friend's pain.

*we all know many of them are actually highly likely guilty of numerous white collar crimes, but they're not as bad as, say, rampant war criminals commiting genocide or something. They just use the legal system to ruin people's lives financially for their own gain.

Yeah, people who cross a picket line (literally or figuratively) in order to do the work of people legitimately on strike are called "scabs" for a reason. They're the worst of the worst and undermine their entire profession for their own personal short term gain (which is effectively shooting themselves in the foot for long-term prosperity).

But that's she whole point of management trying to find scabs. They WANT to undermine the efforts of the labor.

Not gonna get into the 99/1% stuff as I doubt we agree on a lot of that and it would probably violate the no politics rule.

In my experience unions create as many problems as they solve, but sometimes the problems they solve are so important that they become a necessary evil. And fighting for a fair wage is definitely one of those times.

This post isn't about me, but friends of mine lost their 6 year old daughter to a car accident yesterday.

I know it means little coming from a total stranger, but my sincerest condolences to your friends. Losing a child, especially so young, is the most painful experience I could ever imagine. I hope and pray they can find the comfort they need right now.
