Let's see some good some bad...

Bad: my Jeep finally decided to kick the bucket.
It was almost 20 years old with over 270,000 miles on it.

Good: got a good deal on a 2017 Ford Fiesta with only 22,000 miles on it.

Bad: having a car payment with my rather crappy paying retail job.
Which I am seriously starting to HATE the so called "customers" that come in our store.
Our department desk is in the middle of the store and I can't even work on anything for more than 5 minutes before some total idiot asks me where stuff is in the store.
There are signs where the stuff is, along with aisle signs that say what's on them.
You would think that people with intelligence enough to get some better paying job would figure out that a big red sign that says "Verizon" would be where the cell phone stuff is...
Then they ask me about stuff I have no clue what it even is or what it does (and I don't get paid enough to want to learn).
Some of the managers ask me why I don't smile, I say it's just my normal facial expression.
When it's most likely from dealing with complete and utter morons all day.

Back when this company decided to start trying to compete with a Walmart & Amazon by doing discount promo codes, it was a big mistake IMO.
Now most of our customers are there JUST to buy the cheapest crap possible (and they LOVE buying stuff and using it for a bit and returning it), which doesn't help the store or the sales people who get hit.
The managers bend over backwards to return anything people bring in, despite several company policies in place that say that certain things can NOT come back to the store (like hover boards & certain drones).

There is a bit of hope, they offered me a new position in a in store call center role.
Which pays much better than $7.25 plus commission (max I ever got was an extra $100, most of the time I scrape in maybe $20-$30) due to having to do other things like transfers, price changes, and putting away stuff.
Which those tasks are actually something I like doing more than dealing with those people.
Maybe in the call center since I'm not talking to them face to face as often as I do on the sales floor it might be better.
I also will be looking around again for better stuff out there, maybe being in that place for over 6 years (and just spinning my wheels) has been a bad idea.

Good: my parents are letting me stay at their house for an indefinite period. Despite being 46 years old...
I do pay them rent (which is still much much cheaper than 99% of the area prices).
Of course with the new car, I now owe them more $...
Maybe something like delivery might be a good idea, since the car gets pretty good gas mileage.
Don't think I would like to drive other people around in my car though.

Venting is good. We all get frustrated with things and vent about our jobs from time to time...

but if you're in a retail store at a desk in view of customers, the expectation is they're gonna come talk to you and ask questions, yes?

While I do realize that it is my job to answer questions, you would think the customers would realize there's more than one department in the huge store.

Anyhow, after venting I did feel better, and hopefully by next week I will be starting that new better paying position.

Well today was a nightmare. One of the first graders at the school I was subbing at today was killed in a car accident yesterday. I didn't know her directly, but I know her older brother and sister who are in 6th and 4th grade.

^Oh, god. I remember that stuff as hard to deal with as a student. I can only imagine how you teachers must feel.

I know this sounds odd, but during my entire life growing up, only one student in any of the schools I attended died that I am aware of. When I was in 7th grade, a student in 9th grade died of health complications (cant recall exactly what), but I know because there is a dedication page for her in my 7th grade year book. Her younger brother was my peer. I got to know him a little in the 8th grade, but not too well. It's amazing, growing up right next to Oakland CA, we never had any tragedies at least until I left. Oddly enough, once I started High School in Sacramento in 1990, there was a student-on-student stabbing the next year in the high school I would have attended back in the Bay Area. I cannot recall if it was fatal or not.

I'm sorry to hear that Kain when I was in 10th grade one of my classmates died unexpectedly from a brain aneurism while playing basketball, he wasn't in my grade but we did have a class together and it was just an overall bad experience.

As for what ruined my day/week is I should be on vacation in Texas and I was for a day but we had an unexpected family emergency and almost lost my grandfather so we had to fly back the day after we got to Texas. He's doing good now and I'm glad of that. He had to have an emergency surgery and the doctor told my aunt its a good thing that he had it when he did because if he'd waited two more hours he would have passed away. My grandmother had a similar situation a few years ago.

Well...more car problems...yeah less than a month after dropping 2800 into our car, it died, as in major engine failure. I try not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I had it fixed at a dealership, which should have been reputable, I cant help but be convinced they caused the problem. Though it was totally unrelated to any repair made previously, so of course they would charge to fix it again. Forget that. It was a crazy weekend of emergency Car shopping, which always seems to be the way. I've never had the luxury of "fun" car shopping...the kind where you can just look around and browse, and not feel any pressure to get something.

Though we went to CarMax, and have always had good experiences with them, no pressure other than our own necessity to have a functioning vehicle. We tried a few different cars. Ended up with a Nissan Versa 2015. I hope it works for us.

Additionally, my son (almost 12) has decided he wants to learn guitar. We set up to have lessons for him at a nearby music shop. The guy was 15 minuets late, and took another student, totally ignoring my son, and I guess not paying attention to his schedule. He was DEVASTATED.... Yeah I know disappointment is a lesson bets learned early, but it sucks when you cant do anything about it. I do have some musical ability, but it is in brass instruments, never learned stringed. What sucks even more is my dad (His Grandfather) DOES play guitar, was even in local band many years ago. HE could take the opportunity for some major grandfather-grandson bonding, but too bad he ruined all that a few years back.

I'm being proactive here, but our drive through Kansas tonight is going to be "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" since there is going to be nothing to see.

Yeah, nothing seriously to make the day "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!", but then, it will feel like one come 3AM and we still have hours to go before we get to our hotel and are sleepy.

Today was a terrible day. We had a freak winter storm hit us so we got about a half inch of ice thankfully power stayed on but traveling is going to be a pain in the ass. Then on top of that my mom was making cookies earlier and when she went to get some stuff out of the cupboard she knocked the glass sugar thing we use when you want to put sugar on your cereal down and it hit my phone. Now there's a huge shatter mark on my phone and when you turn it on there's a purple vertical line going from the top of the phone to bottom and another black line going horizontal from the crack. Plus the screen flickers. Thankfully she's paying for the repairs but still I'm going to have to get a cheap "burner" phone for emergency purposes until my phone gets back which is going to set me back $60 or so.

Well this friggin sucks. I did 18 interviews at Denver Comic Con this weekend and was just getting ready to edit and render the interview I did with the guys from The Monster Squad and the audio went dead halfway into our interview.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come since this was the first interview.

Not for me, but my other friend who worked for the same company my girlfriend got laid off from back in Nov just laid him off with the words, "We're not ready to talk to you about the reasons why, but you are done."

Today I found out my grandfather is going to be passing away any time now with in the next two weeks. His kidneys have been failing now for awhile and about two months ago he decided to stop going to dialysis for them. This is the day I've been dreading for awhile now as I'm really close with my grandfather and I don't handle death real well ever since my cousin passed away 10 years ago. Part of me wishes it doesn't happen any time soon and part of me wishes it does so he's not in pain any more.

Yesterday morning (July 5th) my grandfather passed away. I'm just glad that he's not suffering any more and is in a better place. It does suck and I haven't been eating or sleeping well since it happened but just trying to do stuff to keep my mind busy so I don't think about it.

Lost my wedding ring earlier this week. I work 3rd shift and stayed up one day to get some stuff done and noticed I had lost it some time after my few hour nap. I've basically flipped my room and have failed to find it.

Sorry to hear that Tom. I know how you feel: seems the last few years have been the point where my grandparents' generation has reached a certain age and they (and my great aunts and uncles) have begun passing on.

Wow, that sucks ass. DAMN!! Sorry!!!

Now I have my own story. Back in my May my g/f fell for an IRS scam that cost her $500. She called up the bank immediately and they told her she would have to wait until the transaction goes through before they could do anything. She made a report with the IRS and FBI as the bank also told her to do. Finally, she makes the report when US Bank allows her to and they gave her back the $500.

On Friday, she opens up her account to see what her paycheck was and finds out that US Bank took their $500 back and charged her a $36 overdraft fee because they apparently decided to reject the dispute and not contact her at all. They couldn't even find any notes in their files about the fraud claim. This is utter and complete bullshit. She did everything she was told to do and they didn't even bother doing jackshit about it. What's the point of putting money in the bank if they aren't going to protect their customers?

our great Pyrenees ivory has died early the other morning when i went to see her she was as stiff as a board, so a friend of the family named bill is going to use
my dads back ho to dig a grave for her,and the great irony is that my mom died the same day the same time two years ago.
